Still can't, although now for completely different reasons. At 16, raised in a fairly conservative household, not super conservative at the time, but enough to where the age thing didn't seem that crazy. Hell, my own father tried to set me up with older men. Now, when I watch it, I still hate Buffy and Angel because they are too dramatic for me, but the age thing definitely hits different now that I have been deconstructing those views for a long time now. I actually like when people like you watch this show and point out how problematic this relationship is. It's arguably a large part of the point of the show: to begin discussions. Seeing people, especially men, being so upset about this dynamic actually makes me happy. It shows how far we've come. Even though I personally don't think we have gone far enough, it's still nice to see that people have more a problem now than they did back when the show was being aired. I giggle every time you say "MANGO" because it's true. The relationship is very problematic and I enjoy hearing you discuss why. There's more to the show than just Buffy and Angel. And some of it might even piss you off more than they do, but the thing I like about it is that it makes people talk about those problematic scenarios and why there are so problematic, and also, so very human. I enjoy watching you react to Buffy, even when you hate it. Because every single Buffy fan that I know has an arc, or a moment, or a dynamic that they hate in the exact same way. And I like knowing what you hate about it just as much as I like knowing what you like about it. :). I don't know if this will help convince you to keep going, but even if it doesn't, I enjoyed watching you complain about Angel being a creep. Because he was, in fact, being very creepy (even before he was Angelus)

2026-02-27 01:40:22 +0000 UTCHonestly season 3 is where the show really hits its stride and four is amazing as well. 1 and 2 were decent but hit or miss a lot of the time. I know I’m just a huge btvs fan girl but I'd really recommend to watch season 3 in its entirety and if you want to quit it after that, nobody could really ask for more, not even my whiny Buffy obsessed ass.

2026-02-26 17:13:19 +0000 UTCAlso it kills me how much you hate Angel because I genuinely believe his spin off is more your speed. BtVS has a special place in my heart, but AtS was my favorite. A darker show with a tighter focus. The character development went crazy with a smaller cast in a noir setting. I also like his big bads more, because most weren’t seasonal one offs. Some ended up with character development of their own. It was interesting to see Angel struggle with whether someone could or couldn’t be redeemed.

You could catch re-runs of Buffy and Angel on FX, but they were on at 8 AM Monday through Friday. My first episode of Buffy was 5x1. The WB released a few character specific VHS collections, and I remember begging my mom to take me to buy the Faith ones so I could finally see any of season 3. I didn’t even know Buffy died. Kendra who? There’s a lot of filler in Buffy and Angel with the freak of the week format. If you’re interested in watching some select episodes, maybe you can poll each season and see which episodes the community feels are can’t miss.
