I loved watching you connect the dots to the timeline of Andor and the connection to the Death Star. My favorite part of this 3-episode arc is Luthen and Kleya’s backstory and the light it shines on their relationship. He always knew he wasn’t going to survive the work he was doing, but knowing how far back their relationship and work goes made for quite the emotional end for him. Second favorite is seeing B happy and playing with his droid friend on Mina-Rau. He was always so sad, and he lost so many of his people. I’m glad Bix went back to him. The OG trilogy starts off with The Rebel Alliance already in place, already fighting cohesively against the Empire with their base on Yavin, already with many big players involved, and Luke, Han and Chewy end up joining through a haphazard series of events. So it left a lot of questions about how everything that led up to the OG trilogy came to be, and those questions are answered via the prequel movies and TV shows. Andor answers how Cassian became part of the rebellion and also how the rebellion came to be. And both Andor and Rogue One answer how we get to A New Hope (OG movie #1). A couple non-spoiler prep points for Rogue One: - Since it came before Andor, it is tonally more in line with the films vs. the show. So it’s a bit more action/adventure vs. spy/action. That threw me off a little when I rewatched after Andor. - Benjamin Bratt’s character Senator Organa is in Rogue One BUT he is played by Jimmy Smits, who was the OG actor for the character but could not join Andor due to scheduling conflicts. Also not a spoiler since you’ve already seen it, but helpful context for A New Hope if you decide to do a rewatch, Senator Organa is the Senator from Alderaan - the planet that is blown up by the Death Star in A New Hope. His daughter is Princess Leia Organa.

He did that, he knew what was at stake and Kleya also did what she had to do to keep him safe, in the end, and to get the information he had gained to the people who needed it. Fuckin' love the droid, he has such a amazing personality. Poor old Mon having to deal with Saul (Forest) he annoyed the shit outta me. The whole little leadership bundle on Yavin piss me off, some of them are just a bunch of wank. Your reflection on loyalty is so true here, as above, if people don't know others sacrifices personally, they rarely trust them. Can't wait for Rogue One with you, I think you'll love it and this series just gives you such a good basis to understand how they get to the film; the foundation of the work put it to get them there. Fabulous work.

2026-02-22 00:35:47 +0000 UTCI’m so sorry for being a broken record but will you be watching Rogue One as the true finale of the show after this? The true conclusion is there. Seamlessly jumps right from the final sequence of episode 12 to the movie (the show is the prequel to that movie). Andor + Rogue One comes before the Princess Leia/A New Hope timeline. Remember, Cassian is a messenger so his mission is to inform the rest of the rebellion across the galaxy about the DeathStar. Besides from the obvious favorites for me (like Luthen and Cassian), Kleya really stole the show for me in episodes where she was more prominent. I can’t believe this was her first major acting role right out of school. She’s phenomenal. She would’ve made an incredible Leia after Carrie passed away. She’s a total badass.

I definitely understood the small details that build to the bigger picture more fully this time around. These last three episodes were such a great send-off to Luthen's character. I love Stellan S as an actor, and he was exceptional in this role. I know you'll be watching Rogue One -- will it be in the same slot of your schedule where this would fall next time around? I haven't seen it yet, and I'm excited to watch it with you/patrons. I think I recommended this before, but Frank reacted to a series "River" that I love -- it stars Stellan S. in a type of role that I had never seen him embody. It's only 6 episodes on Amazon. i truly think you'd like it a lot just as something to watch on your own or with Mrs. Taco. It also has some epic songs. :)
