I'm glad you said Pretti's name. His name should be said. As far as coming here for escapism, I'm sure that is what some Star Wars fans do. But those that made it to Season 2 know what this show is about. They understand the parallels. The Gilroys, they're students of history. They had no interest in making a Star Wars show simply for fantasy and escapism. Since I've seen you've already posted about the Ghorman arc, I feel safe to say this. But for those reading who haven't seen past these episodes, SPOILERS ahead. There is a reason that the Ghorman arc was based on the French Resistance in WW2. The Gilroys want you to see those parallels. They knew what would happen with this administration. They wanted to give warning. This is why the administration goes after performers exercising free speech. Artists and performers hold a mirror up to society, whether the work is overtly political or not.

The goofballs in the Yavin forest capturing Cassian was the seeds of the rebel base in episode 9. They went back to that planet looking for them & chose to set up a home base there. In the moment it's just symbolic of infighting & incompetence inside a disorganized rebellion. All fighting for freedom but some are more talented & efficient than other groups. And what separates one from the other as these guys & gals were a joke, twisted by fear & mistrust. & Andor being head & shoulders above them in every way as is Luthen & those Cassian is associated with.

That is an interesting take. They could convey that in a much shorter time span, though. Right?? It was painfullll.

You're reading the Tay storyline correctly. He's in a desperate situation & he has information he could use as leverage. I love the ending with Mon Mothma dancing -- she downs a few drinks and just lets loose. She's always holding everything so close to the chest, always so calm, always composed. I love seeing her able to let out her emotions in some way. So sad that Brasso died. Really really sad. Everything with Bix hurts, too. Give that fabulous woman a break. I also love Dedra putting Syril's mother in her place. That pairing is so interesting! I have a feeling their sex life is either very dull and robotic or extremely spicy and crazy (something tells me BDSM is involved -- and no shade on that either.) 😂
Oh, and the whole storyline with Cassian in the first two episodes on that planet with those idiots was a waste IMO. It was like they needed some kind of reason for Cassian to be held up, but I really felt all of that time was painful. I find with both seasons that each trilogy of episodes steps it up from those before it.
Lastly, so many parallels to what imperial/authoritarian rule does to its citizens and other people in their universe. It makes me think of Ukraine's valuable minerals or Venezuela's oil reserves or just about anything for any reason that if a powerful group wants it, they simply feel they can take it. That's why the rebellion is so important. The Ghormans are a huge part of the rest of the season. It's fixin' to get lit!

7:10 mark: Ah heck, I knew this was coming but little Minneapolis me just burst into tears so I guess this is gonna be a whole new ride.
You are 100000% correct that it speaks to it. And it’s necessary. That’s the importance of art. It can be an inspiration but it can also be a mirror. It can cause people to see a situation through an entirely different lens than what they were previously seeing it through. It makes us think and feel and it is so critical at a time like this.

I interpreted the people capturing Cassian to kind of represent leftist infighting. Technically they are all fighting for the same cause but they get lost in pointless squabbles, turning on each other. But I also agree that they were super annoying and I was glad when Cassian finally got out of there haha

This season is somehow even better than the first. I can’t wait for you to see it all!
I think you may have missed a post-credit scene in the season one finale. It will answer what they were working on in the prison.
Also folks in the comments: remember that he hasn’t seen Rogue One so don’t make comments assuming he knows certain things.
