Raymond Walker

i have loved your reaction to this show. did you get around to watching this is england? i can’t find it anywhere, sorry if im being dumb!

Jaimie-Lea Livingstone

Watching this finale I simultaneously felt empathy for Jamie's family and empathy for Katie's family. How beyond awful it must be Katie's family, and we never meet them.

I'm a bit late to this reaction and have been loving the show and the reaction so far! Just wanted to share some thoughts regarding the scene of Eddies outburst towards those kids. I agree with you that his frustration in that moment is very understandable. However I also think the show is doing a great job showing how boys/men are often taught that anger is the only appropriate response to deal with negative emotions. We saw that last episode with Jaimie, whenever he was feeling vulnerable, insecure or sad, he burst out aggresively. Now we see it with his father. While his mother has a conversation with their daughter about their feelings in her room, Eddie keeps his emotions to himself until everything that's penned up inside explodes in an angry outburst. It's sad to see because it's self-destructive and dangerous to the people around them but because that's how many boys are socialised it's difficult and takes time and effort to unlearn. Social media is just exacerbating this problem with people like Andre Tate reinforcing these ideas in young boys which the show has also done an amazing job at portraying. Sorry for the long text, just needed to get my thoughts out. I really hope we can learn to do better as a society.

Some Lumon language! 😂

Melissa

“Exquisite” I like how you called yourself out on that 😂

I think that with the pictures has also to do with that the boys do not have so many pictures with the friends(it is not cool)I have two boys and my older son also don't like taken the pictures from himself or him and his friends. I would lie if I would say that my son's are not on their smartphones,or PS5 but luckily they also do sports and do stuff with us parents. And my boys are totally Mama's boys 😁 About that scene with those two kids on the 🚲 I agree you should not do stuff like that but that also would totally be me 💯 Yes Jamie never asked how is mum,how ist my sister. Even in third episode he only asked how is Dad and never asked about mum and that breaks my heart because in my opinion she is great mam and strong woman.

How different Lisa's room is to Jamie's room! Pictures of her and her friends all over the walls. She is so much more connected to community (school/friends) than Jamie ever was - - this matters!! Regarding your question, Taco, I think that the way Jamie sees women directly impacts his relationship with, feelings about, and interactions with both his mom and his sister. He really only seems to care about what his dad thinks when he's arrested and questioned - literally never mentions his mom that I can recall. His sister only comes up in E3 when he says she's "clever." I don't think Jamie hates his mom and sister or anything like that, but because of his feelings and attitude toward women, I don't think it's possible for him to see his mom and sister in a way that isn't twisted by those beliefs even if he does care about them. He acts totally differently on the phone when he finds out they're in the car, shifting himself based on the way he wants to present to his dad vs. to them. When he was at home in his room, he isolated himself from his mom and sister and hardened himself and closed himself off toward them -- literally and emotionally . I have to wonder if there were any indications of his feelings through his interactions with them. If there were, I can also see a family (reasonably!) just explaining it away with him being a teenager. Teenagers are so unpredictable, and their emotions are all over the place. Believing our kids are safe in their rooms behind closed doors is an issue that will stick with me and one that needs to be discussed and shared more. When I was a kid, we were outside all the time, running around, no cell phones, be home when the streetlights come on. And there was reason to worry about us, too, but it's nothing compared the poison online. Kid in hardware store is clearly part of the belief system that Jamie believed, too. I can imagine the internet with groups of like-minded guys defending Jamie. I had kids defending Andrew Tate in my classroom (side conversations that I would squash). He says "lots of us" -- indicating a large following. 🤮 With those boys on bikes, Eddie says, "Don't you fucking laugh at me" so many times. I know Jamie felt laughed at, too, and probably was directly laughed at. Not justifying anything, but no one wants to be laughed at, and my thought is that men have a harder time dealing with it than women. What does everyone think on that? The sound design in this episode is incredible. I didn't pay attention to it on my first viewing. Something about Lisa saying "Jamie's ours" destroyed me. Thank you for your reaction to this series. This episode's reaction was especially in depth and authentic. I know this series will stick with a lot of us for a long time.

I totally misunderstood the graffiti on my first watch. I looked it up, and thought it was a reference to Jamie re: Katie. But now I think it is a suggestion that people think Eddie SA'd his son?? It's horrible either way, but the second feels worse to me. I suppose it's realistic that people would be discussing that possibility since we (the public) are always trying to figure out the "why" and finding someone to blame, especially when something goes so tragically wrong involving children. Ugh. This series is a gut punch in every single moment.

Melissa

TOMORROW!!! FOR SURE!

Raymond Walker

Yeah definitely give this is England a watch

they were both absolutely sensational in this episode!

Olivia

The acting from Stephen and Christine was in this episode on different level so real almost to real,Stephen and Christine are childhood friends they know each other for ages. You can clearly see them vulnerlably going all the way as actors. That takes a lot of trust and then being friends and colleagues for so long must have helped that. Also big shout out to Amélie Pease who played the daughter. The three together truly worked and seemed like a believable family. Their acting while Jamie was on the phone. Each of them playing it so differently. The way they reacted to Jamie in the van... Just amazing. You should check out behind the scenes videos they give so much information about how they filmed it and other great stuff.
