I agree with you 100%. Everyone seems to think Joel just walked in and killed him. But that's not what happened.

20 years without anyone to really live for. I believe Joel loves Tommy and Tess but if you are a parent, a sibling or a lover cannot ever fill the emptiness of a lost child. Marlene handled this the wrong way and paid for it. Ellie should have been told the truth and allowed to decide if it was worth dying for. I think she would have said yes, but it should have been her choice and she could have talked Joel through it. My my children or grandchildren, I could end someone without a moment of hesitation. I do not know the game at all but this series created characters that I am so invested in over a very short period of time. I know what's ahead and I hate it. I do like watching you see it as a gamer and fill in the bits of trivia I don't know. ✌️💖

The doctor picked up a scalpel and was prepared to fight for the surgery. The nurses should have told Abby that, Joel didn't kill him in cold blood, he gave him a choice. The nurses did what he asked and he didn't shoot them. Abby's anger should have been with her father for not just letting Ellie go.

100% agree with you. Both Marlene and Joel go about it the wrong way; they both take Ellie’s choice away from her.
Marlene and the Fireflies should have waited for Joel to wake, explained the procedure and risks to both of them, and allowed Ellie to make an educated decision, while allowing Joel the ability to come to terms with it. Based on how she wakes up, it’s clear they didn’t even bother to get informed consent from Ellie before proceeding.
Also Marlene knowing exactly what Joel is capable of makes me question her decision-making on that, and on the choice she makes to just let him go. Girl, you literally put Ellie in Joel’s hands *because* of what he’s capable of, and he succeeded. Sure he was a closed off asshole when you guys parted, but surviving a trip across the country together is undoubtedly going to result in a close bond. She severely underestimated that, and how Joel would react, and paid for it dearly.
I’m both looking forward to S2 and nervous for it. I haven’t played the games but I know to be prepared for the consequences of those choices to come back at our characters.

Is it just my partial face blindness or does Ellie's mom look quite a bit like Ellie??? How amazing she was the voice actor in the game! I would have thought they chose this actress for the purpose of casting someone who could believably be Bella Ramsey's mother. It's quite remarkable how this worked out!

They didn't even know for sure they could make a cure from Ellie and they jump right to killing her on a vague maybe, I don't agree with that at all so I'm on Joel's side with this. Loved the finale, can't wait for S2 (starts Apr13 I think)...and more Hannibal sometime hopefully.

this entire season was just out of this world amazing, like all the extra bits and pieces they added throughout just enhanced the story even more - cant wait for season 2 as i know it will also be just as unbelievable as the first!!

That baby is so beautiful. 😍🥺 Sometimes, it hits hard and makes me sad that I never had children. Weird that I'm feeling that way watching an apocalyptic show. 😂
