I for one went through all the emotions you explained here in order of first being upset that we did not tie up loose ends by coming here then being immediately HYPER invested even more in Cobel her motivations and the destruction that is hinted to in this episode that LUMON brought upon this town. I do not want to ruin the reaction but you will get all these thoughts and more from me in the episode. Thank you again for this lovely comments. You should consider making character essay videos you would be great at it!!!!

I, for one, really liked it. It felt so short, but I loved getting a clearer sense of her upbringing (family info, childhood stuff, her actual home); a vivid picture of the destruction Lumon brought to this town with no thought to it or its people; more specifics of how Lumon used children - and clearly still does; a deeper understanding of Cobel's devotion that is in conflict with her resentment at their abuse and the theft of her ideas; the danger of Lumon (which we know but is underscored) in how they're still pursuing Cobel after the episode where I felt she would have been killed had she stayed; an understanding of the layers present in Cobel's relationships with Helena, the board, and Natalie; the ability to make better inferences as to why she is so interested and involved with the Mark/Gemma storyline; a clarity around what happened with her mother that shows us Cobel IS a deeply emotional woman who has major trauma -- and yet, she still is quite intimidating; and finally, motivation for what I believe will be the rest of her story arc. Critiques: Is "Harmony invented the severance chip" a deus ex machina story device? (Definition: An unexpected, artificial, or improbable character, device, or event introduced suddenly in a work of fiction or drama to resolve a situation or untangle a plot.) Right now, I say no because Harmony has been so important to the story -- well, more so in S1 but still she looms (pun intended) over it even when she isn't there. My other thought is that it could have been placed differently, but I'm still not sure of that. Maybe they could have released this as a bonus episode mid-week or in conjunction with another episode. Either way, lovers gonna love and haters gonna hate.
