2024-12-13 19:08:57 +0000 UTCIt's been a fucking journey there were times I couldn't drive or look at my phone for more than 3 seconds at a time and the progressive steps took weeks to months to hit..definitely the hardest health issue I've battled...that's coming from a veteran who has had two ankle surgeries a concussions a torn labrum in my hip and a bunch of other random things🤣🤣🤣🤣

He says the most basic “profound” shit as if it’s a wholly original thought, which comes across as totally naïve. But for the innies, it’s not cliché, it’s their first time hearing these kinds of ideas. They don’t have any reason to find Ricken embarrassing or silly. It’s fun to see how much innie Mark loves that book 😂

I suppose that even though yes Mark is moving verrryyy frustratingly slow in his rebellion both inside and outside the office, and he’s often complicit with Lumon along the way, I am rooting for him and his rebellion as much as Helly’s bolder one. She needs to be more subtle and he needs to be bolder! I hope this is the start of them working together instead of against each other! Also, I totally forgot how much the bosses watch the employees all running around and leave them to it. It's such an odd choice when they come down so hard on them in the first couple of episodes! I have clearly forgotten most of season 1 (in my defense, it has been years) because I can't remember why half of this stuff is happening.

Slightly less weird than if it had been a baby I suppose? Or is it?? Maybe it's weirder. I don't even know anymore. Now Taco, I love Helly and am rooting for her in all her rebellions, but I think you are a bit harsh on Mark. I think Mark is trying the whole time, in the only way he knows that works, to protect Helly. He goes to the breakroom for her when he's just met her! He's been given responsibility, which he didn't want, for their department, and doesn't take that power lightly or selfishly. He knows from experience that they're helpless in the hands of Lumon, and if he sympathizes with Helly and encourages rebellion, it only leads to her being punished, which could mean anything. He probably wants to believe that their work is genuine and the things they are told are real, but really he doesn't know that they didn't remove Petey entirely and kill him for making a map. He doesn't know anything outside of what Lumon lets him know that might give him context, like what the outside world is like, or who his outie is, or what examples of historical rebellion against authority looks like. Maybe Kier of Lumon fame is revered by the entire outside world as much as he is in there and if they escaped they'd be widely condemned for disrupting the great work. Even Irving and Dylan are trying to help Helly in the ways that they've found to cope: becoming a true believer for Irving, and buying into the perks for Dylan. And speaking of the lack of context: Mark whole-heartedly loving Rickon's stupid cliché self-help book because it's the only non-corporate book he has ever read is hilarious, and genuinely sweet because that is the way Rickon intended it to be recieved, and sad because Mark doesn't even know that art gets even better and that all Rickon's good ideas are derivative, and also still hilarious. One of my favourite things that happens all season tbh. ALSO related to the lack of context that innies have, I think you are bang on about their departmental conflicts being analogous to conflicts in the wider world. The office is their whole world, and they play out the patterns that we see in the world, especially when the powers that be sow discord and mistrust on purpose. I could go on but this comment is already so long I should shut up!

He's really the comic relief, but he becomes a character you'll love so much. The innocence of the innies makes Rickon's book seem so profound and almost like the first time we discover philosophy. Much of it, to us, is simply hilarious. Cobel "Yes, Daddy" -- I got a vibe there, too. Either a previous fling/relationship or a way to manipulate one another. Go back to Mark's wellness session. Notice the candle. 🤔 One of the most harrowing moments is Hellie hanging in the elevator as it goes up and down - taking her from innie to outie to innie. It's horrifying. I'm still dumbfounded by the goats, but I agree that Helly is the GOAT in these early episodes. Burt and Irving. 💜 Why does the map that Burt gives to Irving so he can visit O&D look like the same artist/sketcher as Petey's map???!!! I love how you swing for the fences with your theories. You may not be right about all of it, but you give it your all. I love that about your reactions.
