IWTV S2 FINALE!! EP 8 REACTION

IWTV S2 FINALE!! EP 8 REACTION

Comments

thank you for sharing your reactions with us, it was such a pleasure to watch along with you 🖤 truly an incredible show and absolutely loved all your thoughts and feelings and especially the part where you called armand a weasel 😂 (I love that gremlin, I love them all dearly, but damn man he makes some insane choices)

mercury

Same here, this is first reaction I've watched where someone noticed the nails as quickly as I did, it's so obvious but no one seems to catch on as quickly, so this was an incredibly rewarding reaction for me!

AngryGreen

there’s so much to be uncovered about the trial, in regards to lestat’s involvement, if it goes even a little by the books, it will be revisited in season three, claudia’s journey is such a heartbreaking one but it’s a credit to her strength that she remains a force of nature throughout everything that happens to her, soooo unbelievably excited for the future of this show and how it’ll go from here since we’re getting into the rest of the series now, not just interview, so many new vampires to be introduced and grand storylines to jump into

malina

I also have playlists like this. ☺️❤️

Myra

You’re so right! It fits perfectly 😭 I have playlists literally dedicated to these characters lol and this one is going right in Armands

Caitlin 🥀

I had already posted this music video elsewhere and don't know if you had seen it. It just goes perfectly with Armand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyzr7Q9aPJk

Myra

Ah! I’m so glad you agree - there’s nothing like going on a rant about something you obsess over and have someone with that same obsession agree 🤣

Caitlin 🥀

Love your statement about Armand. These are exactly my thoughts. 😄

Myra

Loved seeing your journey through this show! Can’t wait for season 3!

Devon Michelle

I’m so sad that this journey is over (for now) but what a way to end! Such beautiful writing and prose, such devastating performances and such impactful art made! I’m so thankful I got to experience this with you all - no one I know watches this show so I really got to build a little community here of people who appreciated my thoughts and rants 🤣 I’ve seen a lot of people doubting if Armand loves Louis because of what he did over the years by concealing and hiding the truth and what he was willing to do back in Paris - whilst that’s still up to debate for me (I’m a Lestat sympathiser til I die lol) I think it’s clear his acts of brutality and betrayal weren’t acts of malice but acts of desperation. A desperation to keep this love which was always built to be temperamental, built on a rotten foundation. Because Louis would always have been pulled back to Lestat and Armand knew that hence why he couldn’t allow himself to tell Louis that Lestat still loved him - it would give Louis the escape route he craved. Its the reason he distorted memories, its the reason he kept all the knowledge and books on the ceiling knowing Louis can’t fly to access them, it’s the reason he had to make Lestat the culprit, the perpetrator of the worst crime he could have committed in Louis’ eyes (Claudia’s death) so that Louis’ conscience could never let him go back to Lestat. Louis and Armands relationship always had a deadline, it wasn’t fulfilling for Louis who needs someone to fight with him whereas Armand is too passive and agreeable and apologetic. He is probably too agreeable because he knows that if he pushes too much or says/does the wrong thing the cord between him and Louis will snap whereas the cord between Louis and Lestat stretches and bends and reaches across time and eras. Their connection is omnipresent 🤣 Also a side note to this long rant: I think the writing and foreshadowing in this show is insane! Louis telling Armand in episode 6 not to hang any art on the wall but to “wait for revelation” to enter the room - and that very wall being the wall he puts Armand threw after all is revealed!!! Also once revelation does enter the room all the books/photos/documents that Armand keeps on the ceiling bookshelves come crashing down. Love it!!!!

Caitlin 🥀

I don't think Lestat is less strong than Armand. Otherwise Armand could have killed him in the tower. The fact that Lestat mentioned that he had the blood of Akasha in him probably made Armand give that up. Of course, it could be that Lestat's abilities are different from Armand's. Perhaps he couldn't knock the other vampires out of consciousness like Armand could. However, I'm convinced that he didn't want Claudia to die. Even at the end of episode 2.6, when he was sitting in front of the mirror, he didn't look like he wanted to be there. He didn't look like he was looking forward to getting his revenge, but more like he was waiting for his own execution. During the trial, he looked weak and battered. When Claudia and Madeleine were killed, he clearly wavered. Lestat seemed to look in the direction Armand was sitting two times after he looked at Louis. I wonder what was going on on his mind then. Did his face say "how can you watch and do nothing", "does it satisfy you to hurt me" or "keep your promise to help me saving Louis"? I don't know what exactly went on during the trial and how the rehearsals for the trial went. In the short clip of the rehearsal that we saw, it also seemed as if Lestat was more than reluctant to take part. We will hopefully find out why he did it anyway and whether and why he did nothing. However, that may not be until the end of a fourth season, after Lestat has told his life story.

Myra

I loved your reaction so much, especially when they revealed Lestat saved Louis. That is EXACTLY how I felt watching it. :D When it comes to the fact Lestat was at the Trial at all and if he could have saved Claudia, I can’t wait to see if we find anything out about that in S3 or S4. Currently it could be anything from Lestat did want revenge but not to the extent the coven wanted and he backed out of the play after it started, to Lestat was tricked into coming to Paris and only ever in the play under duress. We truly don’t know! So I am trying not to gloat too much until we hear what happened to Lestat between NOLA and Paris… but I would say that whether Lestat came to Paris or not the coven would have held the trial, and if Lestat hadn’t come all three of them would be dead. It’s also hard to say to what extent Lestat could have saved Claudia, but Lestat is not as old or powerful a vampire as Armand, and he had the whole coven working against him. His trick with the audience would only ever work once, and he chose use that chance to save Louis over Claudia and Madeline. You are SO spot on linking Armand saying Louis could remove the rocks in his ankles anytime with Armand manipulating Louis’ mind. Armand chooses the narrative that works for him and fully commits to it, so he can’t understand Louis suffering voluntarily over the past and striving for the truth. I see why Armand does it, because he has got the kind of trauma to deal with that would make you turn from reality, but it is a fundamental difference between them. Personally, having never really believed in Louis and Armand’s relationship from their weird-vibes reveal in S1, it all fell into place when Louis forgave Armand purely to spite Lestat. The relationship finally made sense! And every time that Armand said it was all about Lestat for Louis, it was so much more true than we ever dreamed, and Armand knows it the whole time. On the final scene, when we’ve previously seen Louis go into his badass mode, he has to shut down his connections to other people and go cold on the world, whether it’s pulling a knife on Paul in the Pilot because he “can’t show weakness on Liberty Street” or not caring about Claudia leaving him in 2.06 because he’s “stronger” but he’s lost something to gain that strength. But in the final scene here Louis finds a new way to be strong and assertive while surrounded by reminders of people he’s loved—Paul’s portrait and Claudia’s dress—and I hope that this is a sign he can find a healthier balance between being decisive and reaching out to people he cares about.

Leticia

I don't think Lestat's version of Louis himself will be that different from what we've seen so far. Simply for the reason that he doesn't have the same inner motivation to portray him differently as Louis does in relation to Lestat. Louis wanted to portray himself as “good” too much and was struggling with his religious guilt and with getting involved in a romantic relationship with a man in the first place. With Lestat, I don't see why he should portray Louis differently in any way. The only thing I could think of is that Louis did kill the baby. Because in the later episodes only the twins were mentioned and shown and Benji no longer.

Myra

I' got you Victoria I'll come back to this one..hope you're well

I think Daniel could be Armand's chance to heal. Unlike Daniel in the books, the Daniel of the series has the skills to take on Armand. I love that Daniel, who was helpless at Armand's mercy when he was young, was now able to see through and expose Armand's manipulations at a more advanced age. Some commentators think that the looks Daniel gives Armand mean that he hates him. But I don't think so. Daniel IS fascinated and he has a puzzle with Armand that he wants to solve. I think we could get a devils minion part with young Daniel next season and watch in real time how the older Daniel and Armand will orbit each other. ❤

Myra

interesting, i definitely thought the script with no notes he was looking at in episode 7 was his and louis' own copy from their archives. did we see daniel getting that at some point?

Mia

😅

Myra

Absolutly right. 👍 And Armand's reaction to the script in episode 7 was well scripted. The show writers are amazing and so are the actors. ♥️

Myra

The thing I noticed last episode that I couldn't mention until now was Armand's reaction to Daniel pulling out the script in episode 7. Armand definitely freaked out thinking it was his directors script and that's why he wanted to know where Daniel got it from. But once he realizes that his notes aren't there he calms back down. It really is the little things in Assad's performance that you catch on like the 10th rewatch. I cry every time when Lestat starts talking about Claudia in New Orleans. It's just so sad and remorseful. I feel like Armand just doesn't have a healthy understanding of anything because of his abuse so he lies and manipulates and tears things apart so he can wallow in his sorrow. I don't think he knows how to be healthily functional so he self sabotages every hundred years or so because he can't not. He needs to feel shame and have someone shame him or he gets lost. I'll miss Claudia and Madeleine next season. Hell, even Santiago. 😂 A truly great season

Tiffers

One thing that can be said about the Armand girlies is that they KNOW that their fave is problematic.

Philile Langa

I LOVE Stay Inside so much.

Philile Langa

Raleigh Ritchie music is sooooooooo good! I love all his albums. You definitely should check them out. Great music

A love song for Louis and Lestat😍: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deUrhiIVli8

Myra

„Mind if I ask a few follow-up questions?“😂: - Louis said he didn’t know that Lestat could fly, but he was flying with him in the beginning of season one. And how does it matter if he knew it or not? - I wonder, if Santiago stole the diaries at the end of episode 4 or 5, woudn’t Claudia have noticed that? Even when she gave Madeleine one of them to read in episode 6, would she not had missed the others? Why was Santiago so interested in telling Louis that he was the one behind the plotting and not Armand? - There is a fan theorie that Lestat tried to contact Madeleine telepatically and that this was the reason, Santiago kept her under a kind of trance. After rewatching episode 2.7, I’m sure this is right: After the „fags“ scene, when Santiago was out of context and Lestat said: „Louis didn’t take to vampirism.“, look at the faces of Lestat and Madeleine. After this Madeleine „woke up“ and said something in french. In the version with german subtitles, this was subtitled as: „Wo bin ich? Sprich lauter. (Where am I? Speak louder.)“ I think this was adressed to Lestat. When Claudia said „You didn’t come here for me“, Lestat’s eyes were wandering far to the side where Madeleine was sitting. And there are several other moments where something is going on on her and Lestat’s faces. Lestat also seemed to try to interrupt the torment of Louis, when he said that Louis had called him in his thoughts. As you can see on Santiago’s face, this seemed to be out of script and Lestat was really down after this and had to be reminded to go on. Him saying Louis was the one who „hunted“ him was according to script and not the truth, I think. - Lestat seemed to look in the direction Armand was sitting two times after he looked at Louis. I wunder what was going on on his mind then. Did his face say "how can you watch and do nothing", "does it satisfy you to hurt me" or "keep your promise to help me saving Louis"? It will take one year or even more, before we will get Lestat's point of view on that. 😭 -I wonder why Lestat didn't free Louis from the coffin. I can't imagine him saving him from burning but then leaving him to die in the coffin. It wasn't shown how the coffin was taken out of the tomb and opened and who did it. If it hadn't clearly been Armand's blood that Louis got, I would have been convinced it was Lestat who took him out. But then why didn't Armand stay with Louis for a moment and let him drink directly from his arm instead of wasting blood by dripping it on the stones? Lestat didn't seem surprised when Louis came to the tower and he apparently knew full well that Louis had set the theater on fire. - Was Lestat really this fucking as### who groomed Louis into a relationship just to tell him that he needs variety? Lestat seemed to be very happy as Louis asked „Aren’t I enough?“ But then, he laughed and told Louis the variety thing and the wohle situation seemed so strange to me and it hurted Louis this much. Also I wunder why he persided in the affair with Antoinette after getting Louis finally back after six years. I understand that he didn’t want to kill her, but couldn’t he just end the affair to have a new chance with Louis? - In the end of episode 1.7 Lestat said that Antoinette should take Claudia’s place. He can’t really have assumed that Louis would accept this, have Claudia killed and then peacefully tolerate Antoinette as Lestat’s lover in front of his eyes.

Myra

This is so great! Black Sails & Sandman are 2 of my fave series, so I ain’t going nowhere! Let’s GO! 🩵 love your singing, btw!💙

Mizzhoneymy

yeah, you’re right. it’s probably better for him to go in blind.

Sophie Heflebower

I’m savoring this episode like candy because I’ve been waiting so long for it. But I’m pausing at 20:49 to say; I’m experiencing so much genuine joy right now. I ACTUALLY giggled because I was smiling so big. I’m gonna miss the joy of watching your reaction for the first time, but I can’t wait to watch other shows in the future with you. I’m excited for whatever comes because I saw the polls and comments, and everyone here has exceptional taste in entertainment so I’m not worried. Thank you for this joy 🥲🫡 Back to watching I go, there’s an hour and twenty minutes leftttt 😋😋😋

Nawal

Well without going into too many detail (book spoilers that I know will come into later seasons) Armand definitely knows where Daniel is at all times (quite literally). And it was mentioned the tapes had no address on them, they just appeared in his mailbox. Yes, Louis wrote the letter and wanted him there too but Armand has a background motive always. Anyways, Daniel being Armand’s only fledgling makes me feel all the best things.

Amanda Hill

🙏🏿☺️ the pleasure has been all mine. Thank you for all the wonderful and well fleshed out thoughts your added to all the conversations .You kept the comment section engaged 🌹🌹🌹thank you

Raymond Walker

So then he got Louis to write the letter that came with the tapes? Wanted Louis to retell his story? 🤔

Martin Gage

🤣🤣🤣Amanda..i think you're on to something.and yea I'll go bsck and watch it for sure

Raymond Walker

This is like my 75th comment on this video alone (it’s the finale so like come on) but I definitely suggest watching the “after the episode” for this one! And for a final thought, I commented this on one of your videos several episodes because it was the first time I made the connection: when Molloy says about Armand allowing Lestat to dissolve his coven, “you let it happen, you led him there so he could destroy it.” I 100% believe Molloy got the tapes that led him to Dubai because Armand put them there, and I think in some way Armand was so unhappy in their relationship he wanted someone to break them up because of whatever that’s in him that won’t let him end things.

Amanda Hill

Your reactions to this show have been nothing short of amazing and I'm so glad I got to re-experience this masterpiece with you!

sierra's reaction corner

Love this video!

Melissa

I’d prefer he not know, I’m pretty sure the show is doing some version of it and it will be a better reaction if he’s not primed to anticipate it.

Valaree

You guys! Armand didn't save Louis for the sake of love. Come on. He really doesn't know what real love is. He had an agenda...more than one for the sake of self preservation. Any love that he's had for Louis or Lestat is tied to his lack of self esteem, his lack of a true distinct identity. So he ties himself to these attractive charismatic, mysterious men and allows them to dominate him. But we know he's way powerful. I just can't go for guys that are sneaky and manipulative. And honestly? I would say he's a true 'n' word...that word that everyone uses without really knowing what a true 'n' is...(narcissist, which exists on a spectrum). Armand is probably sociopathic if we go back to how cold and disconnected he became when "caring" for Louis post sun-suicide in San Francisco, while at the same time, torturing Daniel. That was torture. At least with Lestat's violent fight with Louis in New Orleans, we know that Louis was more of an active participant than originally portrayed.

sabrina venable

Thanks! That was awesome. St. Vincent is great...very distinctly herself, creative and a masterful musician. I also like how the vid creator increased the lighting in the Hurricane Loustat scene. I feel like that scene could've used a bit more lighting ;)

sabrina venable

You missed Paul's painting on the left side of Louis. He had Claudia's dress on the right and Paul's photo on the left.

connie

I'm not sure about that. I thought he wanted to get rid of Claudia and forced her to play the child for 50! years to drive her crazy and to suicide.

Myra

I agree with you Mari but Armand in the show was turned at 27 years old.

RÆY

Love your thoughts about Louis, Lestat and Claudia!

Myra

***** truthers rise up. 😂 I was going to keep the book chapter out of it, but you’re right—it’s borderline.

Jessica

Wow, this is great!!! A masterpice! Thank you very much for sharing!

Myra

ah yes i love when this happens. reactor finishes this show and we all go… do we tell him about ****** ****** or not? (i would love to tell him too) i guess it depends on how Taco feels about getting potential show spoilers based on a chapter in the book that the fandom theorizes the show is hinting at. if it’s not hinting at it, then it’s just a fun fact about the books… he’ll have to let us know!

Sophie Heflebower

obsessed with this comment. you get it!!!!!

Sophie Heflebower

I agree with your words about Taco and how great the show is! 🥰

Myra

Completely agree with you Myra. Armand is such a tragic character. It's one of the reasons he's my favourite, you have to be very sensitive to understand his trauma and what he is. That's one of the reasons I love Taco's reactions!

Victoria

all of your reactions to this show - INCREDIBLE!!! i wanted to highlight a comment you made to someone else, that you love Armand but had to put him in a 20 minute timeout in your head after this episode. that is EXACTLY what i do every time i watch this episode. (i love you crazy vampire man just… go away for awhile i’m too upset with you right now…)

Sophie Heflebower

I'm a Louis fan, too. 😍 I hope we will see much more of him in season three, althrough the pov changes to Lestat. Maybe in the real-time frame? I never get over it that Anne Rice nearly gave up on Louis in the following books. 😢

Myra

The keys of the piano plank looked like they were painted in blood. Like Lestat scrached the plank with his fingernails out of frustration till he was bleeding. As Louis scrached the hole in the table in Dubai as he was emotionally affected.

Myra

Yeah, and I need an explanation as to why he persisted in the affair with Antoinette. That was the point I couldn't understand and that hurt Louis the most. Louis made him as good as a declaration of love with the words "Aren't I enough?" and Lestat just laughed and said he needs variety. Doesn't look like he's particulary enjoyed his freedoms over the past 70 years...

Myra

I'm in love with Louis for nearly 30 years and I'm glad the show pointed his character out even more. That we got Jacob Anderson to play him, is just awesome and I'm so grateful that he brought my favorite character to life in such an amazing way. ❤❤❤

Myra

WOW you're the first reactor i've seen catch the nails/daniel being a vampire so quickly! very observant :') i love how invested you are in these characters and storylines! has anyone already mentioned the hug/moment we don't hear louis and lestat speak at the end, in their reunion scene, was specifically written as a jacob-and-sam moment in the script... no one else but them know what they said to each other during that scene, not even the producers... SOOOO looking forward to you discovering everything behind the scenes, i think their input & off-screen passion/banter adds so much value to the already genius series that it is. i am seated for whatever you offer next!!!!

lo !!

Here another great fan made music video. Sam Reid mentioned this song as he was asked which song would descripe the relationship between Louis and Lestat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFy5QzrlzbU&list=PLcunXv6qQ1PSt6zExBdzAao1DzN1nRBSd&index=19

Myra

Hehehehe, i would love to see the actors go more in depth about a lot of those looks and unspoken scenes. 😂😂😂. The show deviates from the books in some ways but the essence is there and strong.

Mari Thomas

Another great thing about this channel is that you don’t need to have watched the episodes first. So for those of you thinking of quitting because IWTV is over I would encourage you to stick around even if you haven’t watched the new shows since Taco shows the entire episode. That is my plan with Black Sails!

Terri Matter

The PERFECT song. When you think about it…with this song alone, this man manifested this role and this portrayal of these characters…..his mind

BB

That's exactly how it is: If you just numb the pain all the time, you get stuck in a permanet state of shock, like Louis. And Armand wanted to leave it in that condition. But I think, not only to keep him, but also out of the wrong thought that this would be better for Louis. Armand is cruel and caring at the same time.

Myra

During the trial Lestat looked to Armand right after a situation with Louis two times. I need to know what was really going on there.

Myra

My favorite thing about you is that you can always find compassion.

Terri Matter

So great! Thank you.

Terri Matter

This is exactly the point I wunder all the time. It was Armand's blood Louis tasted, but I don't understand why Lestat didn't pull him out. If there wasn't Armands blood, I would have thought that Lestat got him out. Louis is my absolut favorite and I want him and Lestat beeing together but I feel also for Armand and like this character very much. And Assad Zaman ist awesome as Armand. ♥️

Myra

So great! Like watching with a favorite friend! Thank you so much for the IWTV rewatch. I got to enjoy it all again thru your eyes. I will be sticking around.

Terri Matter

No arguments from me about Armand saving Louis in San Francisco and from the coffin. But, in San Francisco he spends the rest of the episode essentially punishing Louis: he doesn't give Louis his blood or put him in his coffin even though he knows it will help Louis heal faster/despite Louis screaming in pain and begging for help, and tortures Daniel while Louis begs him to leave him alone. Again, I feel like Armand's motivation there is not wanting to be alone. For better or worse, Louis is all he has left and it's one of the few moments the mask dropped and we saw him react in genuine anger. As for saving Louis from the coffin, I hesitate to draw too many conclusions about that because as I said, I question everything Armand says about the trial now, and there's a period of time between the trial ending and Armand saving Louis from the coffin that we only have Armand's account of. I think Lestat's account of these events, should we get them, might reveal something different. But again, I'm only questioning Armand's story, I don't necessarily assume he's lying, just leaving room for more information to be revealed. I also don't think Lestat would have left Louis to die in that coffin, but I'm not positive Lestat was in Paris of his free will either. Genuinely I have no idea what the writers are planning so I'm just waiting to see what happens lol but I agree Armand is extremely complex very sympathetic overall. Just like Lestat, there are reasons why he is the way he is and the show has a very empathetic approach to all of these characters, Armand included.

sam

There are a lot of really great music videos about IvtV on youtube.

Myra

But it will take so long before we will see it.😭 And if we're unlucky, it won't come until season four, after Lestat has told his life story. 😢

Myra

I feel pity for Armand as well. He asked young Daniel what makes him fascinating and isn't able to come to the simple conclusion that Daniel is really himself while Armand is used to play roles and tries to be the one whom he thinks his partner want him to be. To many people it feels boring to be with someone like that. And Armand IS fascinating. If he just would be himself.

Myra

I love Armand, too, and agree he’s a villain for Louis. But as much as we can’t ignore that he betrayed Louis, he also saved him by pulling him out of the wall and giving him blood, and saved him again in San Francisco when Louis went into the sun. Armand is complicated. He’s done a lot of bad and he’s also done some good. I’m still wondering how Lestat could have left Louis dying in that coffin in the wall for who knows how long without going back to save him.

Don’tDrinkTheLuminol

I agree with everything.

Myra

I love how you pointed out the relationship between Louis and Armand and all the little signs in the penthouse. I didn't got the thing with the tree. This is a great symbolism. Now the tree is out of the room and I didn't think, Armand carried it with him because it was far too big then. 😄 Did you noticed that Armand had control about the curtain and the light and about everything in the appartement as well? And Armand seemed not had allowed Louis to feel the pain of Claudia's and Paul's death, because he was preseving his "happiness" and simply wanted him to forget about that. And for that Louis wasn't able to work that out and overcome his trauma. Now he has the picture of Paul and Claudia's dress in his safe space and can come in touch with his feelings. I agree with the theorie, that Lestat tried to communicate with Madeleine. After I heard about that, I rewatched episode 2.7 several times and if you look at the faces of Madeleine and Lestat, they seemed to have a connection sometimes. But what could that change? Even with a connection to Lestat, Madeleine wasn't able to do anything. I wonder, if Lestat told her to tell Claudia that he loved her and if that was the reason, she looked at him as a child and not in a hateful way at the end. But what could he tell her to cure the fact that he decided to save Louis insteat of her? Armand didn't just care about Claudia, he wanted her dead! I got this feeling when he said to Louis that Claudia will not be there a long time, because she was turned too young. After this scene we were shown that Claudia was forced to play the child for 50 years and this wasn't the idea of the coven, it was Armand's idea. The coven hated this play as well. It seemed like he wanted to push her to death. And when Madeleine said, maybe she could be the reason that Claudia will survive, my first thought was: "Okay, it is done." I got that he didn't liked the idea to make a vampire and I belive that this is the truth, but I'm sure he would have done this for Louis and the most important point to him not to do so, was because he didn't wanted Claudia to survive.

Myra

It's Sunday evening in the UK, there's a storm raging outside and I've just made a vegan spag bol.. I've also just realised that coincidentally I'm wearing my Raleigh Ritchie hoodie that I bought at Jacob's concert in the summer. Let's goooo!!

Janey P

I think, just going off of the show and trying not to bring any book knowledge into it, that Lestat wanted Claudia dead because she had plotted Lestat's death and took Louis away from him. And of course in the end he greatly regretted letting her die. And Armand thought by removing Louis and Claudia, he would have the chance to be Lestat's companion, but Lestat saved Louis and sunk into depression and rejected him, leading him to take his chances with Louis. Of course, the whole thing played out a little differently in the books, but I won't speak on that because I don't know what the show is going to carry over from The Vampire Lestat and I don't want to spoil anything ❤️

The Existential Shrew

Your reactions in the last 25min are everything! Well done!

DommeElla

Hey Taco, I love your thought on why Louis didn’t remove the rocks. Didn’t got this on my own. It really makes sense. And I think, Louis wanted Daniel to stay alive back in San Fransisco, not as a beholder of his relationship with Armand, but as an way out to research the truth. He surely was aware that something was odd, but wasn’t in the state of mind to conquer the line that time and so wasn’t young Daniel. I like that you said Lestat and Louis are still loving each other. Some people said there were just friends now and no lovers anymore, because Louis now is able to be on his own, but I don’t think all the feelings simply just went off. Lestat were always on Louis’s mind, why should he suddenly get over this? They are not back together right now, the authors made that clear, but there was so much love between them in their reuníon in New Orleans. Louis needs time on his own and there is so much to be worked out between them. They haven’t seen each other for 70 years. And how could they be happy together with the guilt of Claudias death. This will take time, but I’m longing for an happy end for them together in a healthy relationship so much. When Madeleine and Claudia stood there to be burnt, Lestat was swaying. I hope we will learn in season three that he tried to do something to save her. When we saw Lestat in front of the mirror in the end of episode 2.6, he didn’t seem to be happy about the situation he was finding himself in at all. I’m so glad we have this technologie to share our thoughts across long distances and I appreciate your reactions and this community so much. You are a very sensitive person. It took me hours to watch episode 2.7 and 2.8.😅 Now I’m going to read the comments. Love all of you.🥰

Myra

Great reaction as always! Thank you for being such a refreshing presence in this fandom. I'll definitely be sticking around :) I've been trying to keep my comments vague and sparse because I didn't want to accidentally spoil or lead you so I'm so glad you're finally all caught up lol I think at this point Lestat's presence and motivations at the trial are pure speculation - even book fans can only make informed guesses as we don't know how many changes the showrunners will make from the source material. One thing I will say is that I think Lestat was trying to communicate with Madeleine during the trial - there's a reason Santiago kept her disoriented the entire time: she was the only one out of the three of them who Lestat could communicate with telepathically. If there was any attempt to save Claudia, I think it was through Madeleine. As for Armand's motivations in setting up Louis and Claudia to die, I don't personally think this is a great mystery - he said it himself, that on the night Louis turned Madeleine, he assessed that Louis' devotion and loyalty would be to Claudia, not him. If you go back to the early Paris scenes, Armand makes it clear that he thinks Claudia's death is an inevitability, so he never really cared about her. As for Louis, Louis asks Armand multiple times if he's going to kill him, and Armand never answers. I think Armand wanted out of the coven, but is incapable of being alone, so the entire time they were in Paris, Armand was testing Louis to see if he would be a better companion to him than the coven was. When Louis chose to turn Madeleine against Armand's wishes, he failed Armand's test, and Armand chose the coven. Armand had flexed his powers often enough that we know, IMO, that he definitely could have saved them both if he had truly wanted to, which is why his "I could not prevent it" line always rang false to me. I think the finale in retrospect also re-frames Louis and Armand's whole relationship into something quite sinister: the whole time, Armand is manipulating Louis to keep him from finding out the truth, and it pervades their entire relationship. Even little things in the penthouse: the books, including Claudia's diaries, are kept on a floating shelf that only Armand can reach with his cloud gift - Louis, an avid reader, has to either ask Armand to get his books for him or get a ladder. In Louis meditation space, where he attempts to gain mental clarity, Armand has planted the tree that he grew from the cut he took at the end of 1x06, literally symbolically implanting himself in Louis safe space where he desperately tries to find peace and regain his memories. After he kicks Armand out, Louis Nola accent comes back, color returns to his wardrobe, he redecorates, and the tree in the meditation garden is replaced with mementos of Paul and Claudia. While I do think that it's insightful to view Armand's presence in the background of season 1 as a layer of his character, I also think that in retrospect we can now see that it was also his attempt at monitoring and controlling Louis' interview to make sure he doesn't get too close to the truth. We literally see him interfere whenever Louis starts to have a breakthrough. IMO at this point we should be questioning everything Armand has ever said, including his version of events of what happened between him and Lestat. (Disclaimer: I do really love Armand lol I just think he's a villain in Louis' life). Anyway, just some food for thought!

Yesss can't wait to watch!

THIS EPISODE. Where do I even start? It doesn’t surprise me at all that, even without reading the books, you’ve picked up on absolutely everything straight away. 😂 Louis has spent all these years using Armand to forget about and get back at Lestat. That’s one of the reasons why, in San Francisco, he feels the need to spill everything he does. He’s spent years pretending he’s over Lestat and Claudia’s death, but it’s obvious he’s not. The fact that Armand just accepts it all without a fuss, fully aware, shows how deeply hurt he is. Armand doesn’t believe anyone could love him for who he truly is, and unfortunately, he ends up doing some really low things because he thinks it’s the only way to keep the people he loves by his side. My baby needs healing and therapy. That final scene between Lestat and Louis is, for me, one of the best in the series. And it’s the first time we see Lestat from a third-person perspective, without being filtered through another character. As for whether he could’ve saved Claudia or not… I think Lestat will have a lot to say about that in season 3, so just wait for it! 👁️ And Daniel as a vampire??? That’s going to be brutal! Hahaha. Honestly, this show is so wrong for being so good. I couldn’t watch anything else for a while after finishing it because everything else felt so cheap in comparison. I’m so glad you loved it too! And I’m just as excited for you to see the extras—you have to watch all the behind-the-scenes content after each episode; it’s so cool! Anyway, once again, thank you! ❤️‍🔥

Victoria

Taco! I’m so glad I got to share this journey with you! I’ll split this into two comments because there’s so much to say. First off, I really appreciate your words at the start of the video. When you said that watching you is therapy for many, I completely get it. Watching your videos and being able to share something I’m so passionate about has been such a big help for me during tough times. You’ve been an incredible support over these past few months. I joined (never had Patreon before) because of IWTV, and now I know my subscription is here to stay for a long time. You know we are on the same page 90% of the time, but it’s not just that. Your empathy and ability to analyse characters is honestly impressive. It’s clear when something truly excites you, and you pass that enthusiasm on to all of us watching. For my part, all I can do is thank you for betting on this series and say I’m beyond excited to share more shows/films in the future. All the way to The Vampire Lestat, baby! ❤️‍🔥

Victoria

Beautifully stated all around. I love this universe.

Melissa

I see them as a few things, someone he could talk to, but unlike Claudias diaries, he could discard them in the end. Daniel was different in the way that Louis was different.. All of the vampires are insanely lonely, and bored, and broken.. even in a crowded room and they all have a need to be seen and to heal. My mind canon says that Armand didnt just change a few memories, he tried to keep Louis subdued, kind of mentally sedated and Louis running off with these young men was a kind of rebellion or a return to his own mind, a kind of a break from Armands mind control. Louis definetly got more powerful over the years, harder to control, while Armand tried to ride the line between keeping his mind semi fogged and still being able to enjoy the firecracker that is louis. I love this interpretaton of Rice's works.. I think there will be a lot less of these in the future thanks to a lot of things happening :(.. But im glad they got this done and im glad they didnt drop the ball and chicken out, even though some of this is so hard to watch.. I absolutely love this. I wish they had done a better job with A Discovery of Witches last few seasons though.. ce la vie.. lol

Mari Thomas

That was really well done :D

Mari Thomas

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Raymond Walker

Scratch that maybe 4 mins it uploading really really fast lol🤣🤣🤣

Raymond Walker

It'll be up on 15 mins 😉

Raymond Walker

I like how you put that Mari♥️🙏🏿

Raymond Walker

Hahahaha also your face when they jumped to Daniel being interviewed is hilarious. 😂😂😂

Mari Thomas

You making the melody to Bloodsport into any song you want is just me everyday making up songs. I think one major thing to note between Armand’s and Lestat’s powers — we’ve seen Lestat freeze a room but the point about him mindf*cking the soldiers out the house means he can mind control people (like he did at the trial). We’ve only ever seen Armand freeze large groups of people. The way they use the powers to show us critical watchers who probably did what is masterful. I think season 3 will reveal there was a lot more going on with Lestat at that trial than any of us can even surmise right now. It always bugs me in episode 7 how after Lestat’s apology to Louis they just glaze through the rest of the trial up to the sentencing. Nah I wanna see the whole thing. Even the retellings of certain events were Lestat’s POV through Louis/Armand’s POV.

Amanda Hill

Yes!! I loved that scene in the OG movie.

Mari Thomas

Armand was trained to be manipulative by the absolute best in the game. He is absolutely a master manipulator, but he is not evil, he is just a perpetual teenager because of the age at which he was turned. Imho.

Mari Thomas

Here a fan video: "Bloodsport " with scenes from "Interview with The Vampire" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzmZLTn4bJI&list=PLcunXv6qQ1PSt6zExBdzAao1DzN1nRBSd&index=28

Myra

The funny thing is everyone says "Get out of there Daniel" lol, where was he supposed to go that Armond couldnt find and kill him. Daniel is old and sick and would have never made it out of the room. I also feel like Armand was also fascinated with Daniel. "Is that what makes you fascinating" had a double meaning i think. He couldnt hurt daniel or he would lose Louis forever (we all know what happened the last time someone killed one of Louis favorites. 😂😂) But he could turn him and wait.. Armand is really really good at waiting. Armand is old, old but not Akasha old

Mari Thomas

Daniel, king of divorce 😂 I’ve had two, everyone else gets at least one

Natasha

I never caught the music!! Great observation.

Natasha

The way he moves to guard himself with the plank piano when Louis steps closer??? I’m not well! This versus S1 Lestat?? Not even close to the same character. Sam Reid is doing so much amazing work. Also, just occurred to me now that we’re going to get “Louis as Lestat remembers him” probably in S3 which?? Unreal.

Natasha

Mari, I kind of see all those men as distraction or just plain "I don't give a fuck about anyone, even myself" destructive energy. But Daniel stands out as different bc he listens and invests. And he def becomes therapy back in 73 and in present day Dubai. Louis was on a one way ride -- oblivion -- to wipe out all the pain, loss, trauma. 💔

Melissa

No no no..I LOVE Armand..in that moment..I didn't wanna see his face lol..I gave him a 20 min timeout in my mind he is still one of my favorites♥️. Yea he's manipulative but it isn't in the "AHH IM EVIL SENSE" it more like," don't leave me "and my attachment to you supercedes me allowing to make your own judgment calls..🤔💭( damn that shit sound bad when you type it out) 🤣🤣 let me not think about it too much before I get mad at my guy again 🤣🤣

Raymond Walker

I know you are kinda done with Armand, but I stand with my canceled wife. Armand is not a master manipulative genius, he is just survival centered, opportunistic and in love with Louis. Louis, my petty king. The punishment he layered on top of both Armand and Lestat is next level. I love this show.

Aquielle

Louis burning the theater is one of my favorite scenes from the '94 film. I love the similarities - even some of the musical cues - between the two versions.

Glamazon 617

I hope you do actually read or listen to Armands story. They are all damaged, all broken. Armand took Lestats lover and my own personal head canon says that part of Lestat letting Louis go was to unleash Louis chaos on Armand. Like sure Armand, try to control Louis. Lol, for as long as you can . Lestat knew Louis was going to punish the hell out of Armand. He also knew "the gremlin" would not be enough to hold Louis. I hope they dont drop the ball on season 3. Im looking forward to seeing who will play Akasha. Aaliyah will be a hard act to follow.

Mari Thomas

I LOVED your reaction to this series! I believe you said in another post you'd react to the teaser for S3. Can't WAIT to see you react to that! It got me SO hyped for S3!

Tasia Barrett

Hahahahaha, i knew you would catch the fingernails. 😂😂😂

Mari Thomas

Squeeeeee!! Im so glad you dropped this reaction! 🥲🥲🥲 Ive been waiting for this. Rashid is talamasca. Remember what Armond did to Lestats lover when he first met Lestat? Not only is Louis getting back at Lestat by being with Armand but Armand is taking a swipe at Lestate by stealing/taking another one of his lovers.. Akasha was played by Aaliyah in the original set of movies. The movie sucked but Aailiyah was amazing in that role. The blood of Akasha is so important.

Mari Thomas

I think you are supposed to be unsure about Lestat’s actions (or lack of action) in regards to Claudia. The first book doesn’t disclose them either. Only in the second book we find out the circumstances around Claudia’s death. And it makes sense because Louis was unaware of the plotting and Armand wasn’t motivated to tell the whole story. In S3 we are going back tho!

Mary

And thats what Daniel is, thats what all those young men before Daniel were, therapy.

Mari Thomas

Lol, same, im stickin around. 😂😂😂

Mari Thomas

This is what happens to the mind when something very catastrophic happens. The thing that happens that you cant take back, the thing that happens that cant be undone. Like stepping in a landmine or your sweetheart leaving you for good. Your mind goes everywhere at once, you look for a reason to blame yourself, like if you had just done something else, anything else, this would not be hapoening. Like you can somehow think your way back in time and wake up to that thing not having happened. I find the first part of this episode so incredibly personal and so deep. So deep that anne rice must have had one of those devastating unchangable things that happen in an instant but that you cant take back. Thats the only way you understand the first part of this episode enough to write it. Then the madness comes. Some people never get all the way out of that madness. So well done and sooooo well acted. I feel sorry for anyone who truly understands this part.

Mari Thomas

I also love that Louis' style evolution reflects where he is mentally and reveals the influence of the person he is partnered with at the time. The dark clothing when he was with Armand lets us know that he had become disconnected to life, since the Louis we meet at the beginning of the show is very much "alive" and colourful, from his clothes to his personality. Even though Lestat was a POS to him and did some serious emotional harm, that part of Louis was never completely gone. It only disappeared when he was with Armand because Louis was just never emotionally present even though he claimed to be. He was still dead in a way because of all the ugliness that had taken place. None of him was there. When Daniel helped him realise the truth, he helped Louis find himself again, and we see that with the way he dresses and decorates post-Armand. The confidence is back, but it's also a lot more real than it ever was.

Philile Langa

I know there are peeps who will leave now that interview is done, but you are stuck with me. 😝

Aquielle

Therapy is needed for these vampires. individual, couples, group and family. And throw in an exorcism too. In an AMA in Reddit, Jacob was asked what he would say to Louis if he was his therapist. Jacob said that he would say, "I'm so glad you are here."

Philile Langa

Yay!! i wish i saw the email last night, but yay to this morning while the kids are asleep.. and omg, thank you for a new song <3. Im definitely sticking around because i want to see your channel succeed.. I may not watch all of them but i'll drop in for the ones i want to see .. alright enough commenting lol.. Lets goooo!! :D

Mari Thomas

You feel me!!!

Raymond Walker

LMAO! "mf she's a me!"

PickleBaron

And them talking about Claudia's loss as shingles fly off the shack referencing her when she said, "the stormy romance of you two," and "I was nothing but a roof shingle that blew off your house"

Melissa

Well we told you this IWTV ride is something else. It’s definitely an emotional roller coaster. When I first watched episode 7 I was like I know Lestat saving Louie but then they showed Armand. I was like I know you lying lol. I knew my dude wouldn’t let Louie perish. I’m still not sure who Armand is or why he does what he does but I’m certain his fledging will find out. That whole storyline is going to be crazy. I love that Daniel and Louie have this friendship. We finally got to see real Lestat and that was so unexpected. Because real Lestat seemed caring and calm. I’m excited to get Lestat’s POV now. And awe the moment with Louie and Lestat😭🥹. Give Jacob and Sam all the awards. I felt every emotion. When Lestat remembered the date and time from San Francisco… I was done. The waterworks were on. Lastly I love Louie wearing color and redecorating his place with color. Loved the memorial space with Claudia’s dress and Paul’s picture. It really came full circle. Season 3 about to be amazing and I can’t wait. You should definitely check out more Raleigh Ritchie music. I think Jacob just did a tour. His live shows are so good. He’s talented all around. I’m hoping he’ll get to do some music next season. Maybe a song on the soundtrack. Time in a tree is still one of my faves. Now FOX I’ve enjoyed the ride with you. Your reactions and commentary has really been great. I love the personal stories and vulnerability you show to relate to these characters. I’m hopping on this Hannibal train and of course Arcane. Thanks again for all you do. Wishing you much love and success as you continue on your journey 🤩! P.S. We need that LIVE between you and Frank to happen to recap S1&2. I think it would be great for both channels and plus no editing if you both have time to do it.

Partrice

I’ve enjoyed watching this journey with you! Looking forward to S3 teaser reaction and I hang out with you through the long wait!!😚

Laurie Kyle

I loved taking this journey with you. Your insightfulness made it so much fun to watch. I couldn’t wait for you to figure things out. The show is so beautiful. So tragic. When we met Louis he was a closeted, depressed, unfulfilled, and lonely man. He was a Black businessman in 1910 NOLA. He was always going to hit a ceiling in business. In love. In happiness. Louis would have been an old man before the civil rights act was passed and even older before the anti-gay laws would have been repealed. Vampirism gave Louis the opportunity to outlive that time to be able to live the life he wanted freely. I’m so glad he realized how selfish he was. I’m so glad he was able to accept his part in all the things that happened. His arc was so beautifully written. It made me fall in love with his character. I can’t wait for season 3. Things I want to happen in season 3: Daniel and Lestat to meet. Louis beating vampiric ass. Louis and Lestat figuring out each other again. And Armand. lol I need to know what is up with him. I need answers!!! Thanks FoxTaco!!!! Ps. I voted for The Watchmen. It’s so good!!!!

Jackie Owe

i didn’t even put that together after all these times i’ve rewatched it oh my god… they love each other so bad 😭

isa ‹3

In the book Louis knew that Armand was complicit and still decided to go with him because he was depressed and nothing mattered to him anymore. Here they added an additional motivation - to piss Lestat off and because he still thought that Armand at least tried to save him.

Mary

I hate that people try to spoil it for you. It’s honestly why I’ve been quiet these past few episodes lol. I can’t wait to see this reaction lol

Jackie Owe

I think the answer to "What is wrong with Armand?" is "All of it. Everything." Poor guy's been through the wringer, and my god what an evil conniving sneak it has made him. I love him dearly. I've thoroughly enjoyed re-watching the show with you, I can't wait for season three and the chance to hear what you have to say about it!

Vince

In the final scene in Dubai .... notice how there's not just Claudia's dress, but also a portrait of Paul.

astro guava

<3 A Perfect Circle!

sabrina venable

I've been waiting for this to drop and it was worth the wait. You nailed so many things on the first go, some that took me at least a couple of watches. It's been great to see this show through your eyes. I hope you post reactions to the sneak peek of S3! Hope your eyes aren't too sore after that one! It's such a meticulously crafted show and it blows my mind how they manage to fit all this into one episode.

Ally

Dear Taco, thank you very much for your reviews of Interview with the Vampire and sharing your thoughts with us. I would like to suggest a very good analysis video for Interview with the Vampire. It lasts 36 minutes and deals in particular with the narrative structure and the theme of memory and trauma. The background and motivations behind the actions of especially Louis and Armand are explained in more detail. Some interesting aspects are addressed, particularly in relation to Armand. For me, it is the best video of its kind in terms of content and presentation and I would be very happy to hear your thoughts on it. I would also like a co-reaction with Frank. Unfortunately, it ends somewhat abruptly. Don't be surprised, I think that's an editing error. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPhgnNG5vm4

Myra

First off, Jacob Anderson is so immensely talented. Opening this with Bloodsport was perfection. Just coming here to say I may have come for the IwtV, but am going nowhere. I hope you and Frank get together and we can enjoy you both chatting about the show now that you’ve both finished all of it. Also looking forward to seeing what you think of some of these other shows etc. I haven’t watched Succession yet, but prob going to jump on that soon. Have to distract myself with something while waiting on Season 3! It should be getting into who Akasha is and why she’s important to Lestat’s story. Can’t wait!

Ms.Mews

Oh, I just woke up, saw the video and 85 comments! 💕I have to rewatch episide 2.7 first, then I will join. Hope you were sleeping well. ☺

Myra

OMG! I was waiting for this! UPD: Bloodsport is such a Loustat song 😭

Mary

Ooh, and the detail of Lestat wearing that ancient, ‘ratty’ silk robe that was so pristine back in 1910… the first time around I was so choked up seeing Lestat without others’ filtered perspectives for the first time. And here he is, with his snappy comments, but also with vulnerability holding his emotional support piano plank.

Ms.Mews

I was immediately suspicious of the sunglasses, even before I noticed the nails. I thought they might go this direction with Daniel since it is canon, but I really love that the show writers changed just enough that an old-time book reader like me couldn’t be sure whether they’d keep with Armand turning Daniel or not. This episode deserves everything.

Ms.Mews

divorce lawyer daniel molloy thank you for your service 🙏 i swear my man grew to dislike armand so much that he turned into a loustat shipper in the process lmfao

j-l

its so interesting to rewatch that scene w louis, lestat and armand bc you can tell by armands face that he was waiting for lestat to expose him, and you realize how the words we thought were directed at louis were actually for armand. like the ''destroying everything in your wake'' and ''lets see how long it holds''.. this show is even better when you rewatch

j-l

i have not been the same since i realized that the louis and lestat scene at the end is the first time we get to see REAL lestat. not through anyones memory and other peoples perspectives but actual lestat in the flesh. i cant wait to see more of my king

j-l

thank you for these reactions, ive had the best time rewatching this w you and hearing all your thoughts :) unfortunately i dont watch any of the other shows youre reacting to and im gonna have to cancel my membership soon, so i just wanted to say thank you and that your reactions are awesome. im planning on sticking around for the bts, interviews and such tho, do you have some idea of when youre gonna react to those? much love <3

j-l

you're the first person i've seen notice daniel's nails immediately and know he got turned, i remember watching this for the first time and freaking out when he started pointing at the book like holy shit his nails!! super pumped to watch the season 3 teaser and bts reactions dude, these have been awesome

PJ

Your timing Taco! I was just getting ready for sleep and you drop this lol Worth being up late to watch, another great video. After watching this for the first time I had to sit with myself for a while, this last episode is SO GOOD and gives you so much to think about. I have two theories I would love your thoughts on. 1) For why way Lestat was at the rehearsals/play, I think that Armand was messing with Lestat's mind. Like how the coven was messing with Louis and Claudia's head. I found it kind of weird that during the main play Armand was seated so close to the stage, but he might have been in charge of keeping Lestat in line. 2) Louis says Daniel got turned out of spite, and I think it might have to do with Louis declaring Daniel "proof of the endurance of our relationship" in 1973. Like Armand is trying to let Louis know their relationship isn't over by not letting Daniel die. As you stated, Armand has some issues 😬. I am so thankful you decided to watch this series. Getting the enjoy the journey of this show with you has been great. I look forward to watching you react to other shows and S3 of Interview.

Chu

I had to rewatch that crypt vengeance plan scene when someone had pointed it out. Like he was talking to both bodies he drained, the man AND his cat 😂 I don't know if it would be funnier if Jacob Anderson had improvised it or if the meow was genuinely in the script.

astro guava

Now that you've brought up the liability waiver I can see extra symbolism for it. When you sign a liability waiver, you're basically stating that you acknowledge the dangerous risks and will take full accountability of any consequences. That embodies what Louis said to Lestat about Claudia: he took full accountability for the tragic second life he forced upon her. And even back in Dubai when Louis came to terms with himself about not living in the past, focusing on what he could have done differently to avoid his fate, or viewing Lestat as a 1 dimensional puppet master.

astro guava

Stayed up way late to watch this tonight and just want to say: this has been such a fun ride, and the payoff moments in this ep were so on point. I’ve seen a lot of people guess that since we see how much the mind control takes out of Lestat, he didn’t risk saving Claudia because he needed to save Louis, which I totally buy. I LOVED your response the Armand reveal. Your description had me fully giggling, “he has a sickness” “understandably, pathetically, sick”. 😂😂😂 And that vs whatever the fuck is going on with Lestat, who lets Louis walk away from him, who’s sitting in a shack looking like something that washed up on the beach, eating rats and living like a ghost with his regrets. First time we see the man without someone else’s POV colouring him, and he’s playing a fake piano and sadder than any other character we’ve seen at any point. Obsessed with this turn. Looking forward to you watching the S3 teaser because I literally screamed the first time I saw it, and to sticking around for the next series in the meantime. ❤️ Thanks for sharing these with us.

Natasha

Black Sails is worth sticking around for. I hope he makes it to season 2 because thats when the show really gets juicy. But it's fantastic as well. Gets better and better.

hypocritex

Frist Prince than Raleigh Ritchie, You are the Goat

Fransiska DeWindt

I've been on really good terms with Louis since episode 4 or 5

Raymond Walker

Thank you for reacting to the show Taco. It’s been great getting to know you and watching your reactions. As Louis stan, I have to know if you’ve come around to him finally?? Ps: the song choice was perfect because during season 1 promo, Jacob said that bloodsport would be Louis and Lestat’s song if he had to pick one.

Val

It's here! I'm so glad you loved it! Rewatching through your experience has been a treat. And if you wanna talk about the depth of Armand's memory meddling! My tinfoil maybe-not-so-tinfoil hat theory is that Armand not only switched up his role in the play, but he also left Claudia's fate ambiguous in Louis' mind-- which I think Daniel and Louis were circling it in San Francisco. ("She what, Daniel?") It comes out again in Armand and Louis arguing. "Paris.. Paris? Can you hear her? She's calling me." -> before he runs to the rooftop. I think he was hearing Claudia shouting for him as he was being dragged off the stage. He was going up there to burn with her. I believe Armand when he said Louis asked him to wipe his memory of the attempt and therefore her death again. Which if true, he really was a passenger in this story as much as we were. :')

birdie

I think when it comes to Armand, he’s locked in a loop. If you think about it he was in the same position he was originally with the first coven in the 18th century, the same member played the same song on the flute during the Trial before Claudia died. It’s a cycle, a prison that Armand can’t escape without someone like Lestat or Louis to break him out of it. I think in the end he wanted someone to come save him from his own prison he’d built for Louis, just like he wanted Lestat to come and destroy his original coven.

Grace

I think he knew about the play when him and Louis “did it” and he told Louis that Sam gave him a new script. “Take ‘ya’ clothes off. Face down in the coffin. You can read ‘em to me while I fuck you”👀

Himindabank

Loved this journey with you! You’ve been one of the most insightful, self-reflective, philosophical, relevant, and inspiring reactors I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching, and it couldn’t have been for a better show! Isn’t iwtv just so special? Nothing really comes close to it. Louis’s journey has been a hell of a ride, can you believe this is only the beginning when it comes to these vampires? We haven’t seen the last of ANY of these characters. Remember Akasha, fr fr, like keep that name in your mind! Love you Taco!🫂💕

Grace

Final Comment. I swear it. I just wanna thank you, Taco, for taking a chance on this masterpiece. Thank you for commentary, your insight of these magnificent characters. Thank you for the time you’ve gifted us all. Thank You. 🙏🏾

Himindabank

Armand compares Lestat to a hurricane ("You cannot script a hurricane.") and then Louis goes and signs a hurricane liability waver at the NOLA hotel. 🥹 I love this show...

alee

It is so sad 😭 however, I don’t think that was completely accurate, but it definitely shows how Claudia felt because that’s how Louis and Lestat’s relationship made her feel. She never felt like a priority (with good reason) but I don’t think she was just a roof shingle to them because they clearly loved her, unfortunately, Louis and Lestat are just crazy in love.

RÆY

Also Claudia being “a shingle” that flew off their house 🥲

Jessica

When you were asking for finale song recommendations I wanted to recommend “Pet” by A Perfect Circle but thought it would be too spoilery. So I’m recommending it now, with a link to a youtube edit. https://youtu.be/QB35g__xVD4?si=twF5_pv4ApgGhabT

Valaree

Yeah— I’m not sure if it’s totally spite. Like he will be “alive” when you’re ready to come to your senses. As a testament to our companionship. Or this little SHIT. Time to see what makes you fascinating. What I love about Armand is his consistency. He will never relinquish the power he doesn’t want, or the relationship that is on its last leg, if he can let someone else come in and nuke it for him. He really is so lost.

Jessica

Be mindful that giving hints, no matter how subtle can be spoiler teritory.

Natty

Fuck you, this testament to our relationship will live forever. Or maybe Armand just latches on to whoever destroys his life? Marius gets killed, guess I’ll join the cult that killed him. Lestat destroys my cult? Guess he’s my new boyfriend. Louis burns down the theater and kills all my friends? I’m going to cling to his leg for the next 77 years. Daniel, king of divorce, ender of marriages, blows up the tower of lies I’ve built around the “love of my life”? Guess I’ll make him my new baby ❤️

Valaree

🎀🥺 he could not prevent it.

Jessica

But when I said rewatch the last episode, I wanted you to see that Lestat looked dazed, almost zombified in certain parts (like they did with Louis and Claudia). I also believe that Santiago silenced Madeleine because she was the only person whose mind Lestat could access. P.S. excuse all my comments I’m just excited. 😂

Himindabank

I ALMOST FORGOT TO SAY BUT LOUIS IS A LOVER BOY REALLY BECAUSE HE REALLY THOUGHT FOR 77 YEARS THAT LESTAT WANTED HIM DEAD AND KILLED CLAUDIA AND YET IN 1973 HE WAS STILL VERY MUCH MISSING HIM AND AS ARMAND SAID “READ YOUR NASTY EMBELLISHMENTS SO HE COMES RUNNING AFTER YOU AGAIN” LIKE LOUIS GIRL YOU CRAZY FOR THAT AND I LOVE YOU.

To understand the Akasha moment you would have to watch the film Queen of the Damned (or read the books) but if your wanting to go into season 3 unspoiled I would suggest holding off. The trailer and everything is pointing towards them moving into that story line. It was really great watching this again and getting to hear your opinions. Can’t believe I sobbed again there at the end 😭

EVEN RASHID!! THAT NOTES STARTED A CRAZY CHAIN OF EVENTS LOL. In all seriousness yes everyone was amazing

I'm so glad you've enjoyed this show as much as we have! I've found a few reactors that I've enjoyed in my IWTV journey, but I've really enjoyed the nuance you bring to your reactions. You pay such good attention and catch things a lot of people don't catch. And that's why I'll be sticking around for the foreseeable future! You have some shows I really like that I'm interested to hear your take on, plus some upcoming ones that I'm also into! I tend to be a lurker, but here I am- keep up the good work!

Molly

Great points MJG!! Armand is diabolical and sad at the same time honestly..still love him though as a character

Raymond Walker

Everybody deserves a damn Emmy💯

Remember what Lestat told Louis in the opera during their date night? How loneliness is the worst feeling a vampire can have. Armand played Louis like a guitar from the moment he approached and read him like a book using mind reading and memory edits to maintain Louis sense of obligation to him. He basically used Louis' pimp hand against him in that a pimp has a responsibility to nurture and protect his "girls". I think this is what Armand wanted all along and he used Louis' rage to fetter from the coven. I don't think Armand knew exactly what would happen but he did understand that if he played submissive to Louis for long enough and he survived the events then he had a shot at companionship.

Sorry for your loss sending love just loss my gma in March. Remember the good times🙏🏿♥️

One of the things I have enjoyed so much about this show is the attention to detail and the ways they incorporate symbolism. Armand in episode 7 said, “You cannot script a hurricane” in relation to Lestat. When Louis left for New Orleans, there’s a hurricane warning and Louis signs a liability waiver, and later we see both Louis and Lestat embracing each other as everything around them is chaos. It is similar to S1E1, when Louis and Lestat got vampire married, there was a literal storm happening that night as Louis and Lestat embraced each other despite the chaos of dead bodies surrounding them. My interpretation as to why Lestat possibly couldn’t have saved Claudia is because the coven might have been able to stop him from saving Louis, and we all know that even though Lestat loves and cares about Claudia, Louis will always be chosen. In season 1, Lestat does bleed from his ears, and he bleeds from his ears again at the trial saving Louis, indicating that it does take a toll on him to some capacity. I can’t wait for season 3, and I can’t wait to see your reaction to cast interviews, bloopers, the teaser etc. Jacob was so right, Bloodsport is very Loustat coded. I love Louis growth as a character, from the time we first see him till now, he’s changed. His apartment is even more colorful. I did give Frank some questions a while back so he could answer them with you and one of those was related to Louis always wearing black in modern day and as the season progresses we start seeing different shades of dark color and then in the finale, he is finally wearing color. I was wondering, what is your take on that? what do you think it represents?

RÆY

I can barely talk about anything other than Armand! He’s such a pathetic wet kitten of a man. But also absolutely deranged. I guess leading a satanic cult for like 300 years messes with your ability to be normal…

Valaree

Please reach to the season 3 trailer

Miki

Sorry for your loss

Jessica

I am so glad you were able to get to this! I just lost my grandmother last week and I haven't had much to look forward too lately. And I was definitely looking forward to this. Great choice on Black Sails. Definitely coming back for the coming months! I hope your health continues to improve sir.

hypocritex

I'll have more to say tomorrow since it's late here. Thank you so much for all that you give to us. I'm here for the long haul. More tomorrow . . .

Melissa

I'm not sure he wants to know . . . He avoids spoilers

Melissa

That always stuck out to me.

Melissa

Also as for why Armand turned Daniel, I think it goes back to 1973. Armand was going to kill him then. Louis said “I need this one to live. As a testament to our companionship. Of it’s endurance.” Companionship gone? Open season on Daniel.

Jessica

I think Armand was in the conspiracy as far back as 2x03–when he takes Louis into the sewers to kill him and says “the coven has grand designs for Claudia” but she “won’t be here long”. What in the precise fuck did you mean by that, buddy?

Jessica

YOU CLOCKED THAT 💅

Jessica

Louis fine as hell in New Orleans!

Tarabee

I really enjoyed rewatching the show you all.Louis at the end actualizing his vampire existence and realizing and owning his part in his relationship with Lesat 🩵.Lestat wanted to save Claudia but he wasn't strong enough to save both.If you look at his ear it was bleeding like in New Orleans. At the end FINALLY seeing real Lestat was great cant wait for season 3.

deedra Mcconis

“MEOW” will never not be funny.😂 shit was hella random.

Himindabank

I've loved your reactions to this show so much. It's my absolute favourite - I loved the books and the film as a teenager and the show is just next level. I'm so happy you enjoyed it!

Chloe Sheila

Hey Taco. I'm a quiet follower and I've really enjoyed your reaction to the show. Thank you! Will you and Frank do a recap of the show?

Linda B

You finally got to meet the real Lestat at the end, for the very first time! How does it feeeeeel?! Ahh I loved your excitement.

Amanda Hill

Michael

Zaria Middleton

AKASHA!!!

Tarabee

Hello Francis, goodbye Francis!

Tarabee

I like your perspective of armand throwing away memories and kind of trying to skip past the memories and guilt or accountability really. MY perspective was focused on louis and that classic line claudia said from season 1 "we keep the damage so we never forget the damage". in season one it was the damage of the home to remind louis lestat and claudia of the fight but in this case the stones are a reminder to louis and armand of the atrocities of Paris. This show is too good

Miki

Pressure is my absolute favorite Raleigh Ritchie song

Miki

My lord Louis opening monologue! Chefs 😘 kiss!

Tarabee

And I liked episode 1 of severance, I wouldn’t have watched it if I wasn’t waiting for this IWTV episode so I’m happy you put me on to that. And black sails is top tier s2-4 so I’m locked in!

Tarabee

Thanks Tarabee , but also don't feel pressured I understand how these things go..people leave, people come back it's all about what you wanna watch..the time you have and interest level in the content. I won't take any of it personally at all ☺️ imI'm sure qhen S3 starts will have alot of the same gang back ..but yes black sails will start recording right after Thanksgiving and severance I'm on episode 4 currently..I'll pick up sandman after I finish severance

Raymond Walker

HAPPILY—there’s a fan theory about tv show Armand that you haven’t picked up AT all. How do you feel about me dropping something the show might be sneaking in? It’s along the lines of memory snipping but uh, is gaining credibility for me. Otherwise you know I’m here for where you’re at.

Jessica

Taco I’m only 8 min in and want say thank you! For giving this show a true honest reaction. Always good energy and entertaining. I have to admit I don’t do a lot of anime, I like certain shows for rewatch so I was feeling guilty about leaving after this show was done. I’m happy you’re picking up black sails because I think I’ll rock with you for 2025 too! I only keep like 3 patrons at a time and it was a lot easier before this show! So thank you again for your effort!

Tarabee

Can we talk about Armand though smh
