A little of her backstory was shown in the music video they made for her, The song is a banger and it makes you really get to know her emotionally at least it did for me (possibly because I am also a black woman) but the level of emotions I feel towards her character after watching it is crazy. also, it's sung by the one and only Sheryl Lee Ralph and you feel every word. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXwoeXetD4A&ab_channel=Netflix

In season 1 she told Mel that her son (Mel's Brother) was killed by a man for crossing him but the guy didn't think the debt was paid, I'm guessing the Black Rose works for that guy and is coming after her and the rest of the family to complete the debt. She came to get Hextech weapons probably to gain an advantage against the Black Rose, Ambessa has strength but they have magic so she needs magic to compete. But also to make sure Mel was good she sent her away because Mel wasn't fit for the place they are from Nocux is a warrior nation that lives to fight and conquer Mel wasn't a wolf she showed mercy and as Ambessa said in the 1st season " You(Mel) weakened me, I couldn't bare the look in your eyes when I made the necessary decisions to keep us safe."

2024-11-15 23:21:22 +0000 UTCAMBESSA THE WOMAN THAT YOU ARE! I truly love her, especially in episode 3. Every time she spoke, it was about protecting Mel. Her only family left so much that she would much rather have her as an enemy than close enough for her to get hurt. The sad thing is that the more Ambessa does to protect Mel, the more in danger she is. UGH. The crash-out when she finds out Mel is gone is going to be insane. Caitlyn is on her Fascism Arc right now, turning her mom's way of helping Zuan into a chemical weapon to get to Jinx. If Ambessa wanted a puppet she would have chosen Salo he is easy to control but, she saw Caitlyn for who she was a WOLF.
