After a good nights sleeps and some reflection I still fill about 98% of my post thoughts are still the same. So im not 10 toes down, I'm like 9 lol. I feel comfortable with what I said though and we can discuss what I would add as you all watch the video. Hope you all Enjoy! In short this is till the original version.

IWV EP 4 REACTION

Comments

Regarding Claudia “A band aid for Louis and a tool for Lestat” was good. I agree wholeheartedly.

Mcryy

I’m just nodding my head and saying ‘mhm’ to everything. Also your grace and sympathy for Claudia made me cry. I see parts of myself in her and it makes me feel hurt when people in this fandom can’t or won’t understand how messed up Claudia’s life was from the start.

Mcryy

🚨 Spoilers S2 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ After watching flashbacks from 2x07 I’m quite positive that the look Lestat gives to Louis seems to me like he’s saying: “See? Now you understand what happens when you turn a child into a vampire? I warned you something like this would happen but you said that you don’t care”. This situation also correlates to what happened with Nicki. Lestat continued to mingle with Nicki, turned him and Nicki, a fragile person that he is, perished quite soon. That’s why he says to her to stay away from humans, teaches her a lesson, so to speak. But he does it in the cruelest way possible. Moron.

Mary

No no no you're fine thank you for sharing 🙏🏿☺️

Your commentary on this episode was top tier. God I cannot wait for you to get to season 2. Honestly, we would watch hours of your reactions…this fandom are NERDS and as you can tell, there is sooo much to say on this material. Your takeaways are astute so if you feel pressure to edit these down, just know we ain’t gonna leave if they’re long. You pick up on things very quickly (plus make some great parallels I haven’t picked up in ♾️ watches, hahaha). As a lot of your commenters already pointed out — your nuance is so so refreshing! It’s perfect for a cast of morally gray characters who need to be appreciated as just that. While Louis and Lestat brought her into the world…Louis threatened Lestat with his greatest fear and came back home with a child-shaped ultimatum. Yes Lestat is culpable, but I feel like this episode really starts to shed some light on Louis in a VERY real way while Louis has been shining the light on Lestat most of the story so far. I love them both dearly, for all their flaws and their glory. And you’re right the only true victim here is Claudia. She’s amazing and I love her so so much. Thanks for sharing this with us! I know I’m late to your page, but I’m really excited to see more of these! (Apologies in advance for my essay comments on your videos back-to-back tonight, I am binging them.)

Amanda Hill

Honestly I don’t think you’re being harsh on Louis as all. Like you said - 2 things can be true. He can make a very human mistake and that mistake can be a very monstrous one. That’s the brilliance of Anne Rice’s characters is that they’re monsters that reflect what makes us human back at us

Acacia

It's definitely high on my list..white pony is chefs kiss as well

Raymond Walker

I love to see you enjoying my Deftones. Diamond Eyes is an amazing album!!!

GuidedByGrace

Oh you're welcome Melissa🙏🏿 thanks for being here

Raymond Walker

Thank you kim, yea I keep hearing chirps from youtube and here of people saying alot of reactors aren't really giving all the characters the full assessment they deserve. I can't really comment on them but I'm glad you're enjoying my reactions and I will continue to do my beat to give equal attention to each characters. Because the source material deserves that and the actors portrayal of the characters deserve that as well..and at the end of the day..this is FUCKING HORROR!! VAMPIRES BLOOD GORE WE NEED IT ALL!!...I'm not here strictly to watch a romance..I'll go watch the notebook for that shit..lets get ACTIVE!!!🩸🩸🩸🩸🦇🦇🦇

Raymond Walker

Right!!! Everytime I think about the characters I have a new feeling or a slight change in my thoughts on them from my initial assessments

Raymond Walker

Let's get there!!!

Raymond Walker

all these characters and their flaws are what makes this show so special 🙏🏿

Raymond Walker

Right!!!

Raymond Walker

AHHH you catching the loaded stare lestat sends louis when claudia comes in with Charlie…. yeah that stare is definitely saying a lot

caroline

Definitely agree with you - poor Claudia. i understand Lestat and Louis' perspective, however Claudia is definitely the one who suffers here and yes, Louis seemed to do the same thing that Lestat did in terms of turning them without free will. It's so good at showing all the different perspectives and sides.

sparkle

ahhhh the sexuality / vampirism comment you made during the boat scene with louis and Claudia — dead. i feel like being a fully fledged out vampire is very much in louis’ nature for sure, but as was addressed in episode one, he’s had to conform to so many roles to keep himself and his family afloat in society that he had to suppress almost every side of himself. that’s what he’s used to and so when this vampire identity comes along, he is hesitant to fully embrace that nature bc there is that constant burden of him denying various parts of his identity bc he can’t fathom them. he’s ashamed bc he’s been taught to feel shame and being a vampire is no different. and it’s even worse when being a vampire is another oppressed aspect of his identity that he has to deal with, and it’s a complete antithesis to the world and life he’s known. and like you said, he’s very much oblivious when it’s about his vampiric nature and that whole spectrum. it also reminds me of when the actor jacob anderson said that he is probably more vampire than all of them, but he fights so hard against it. and he holds so hard onto his humanity even though he hates humans — and why wouldn’t he when he’s seen and experienced the very worst of humanity before and after he was a vampire.

caroline

that was very good commentary and I cannot wait to see you react to the next few episodes. Especially when we get to season 2

Gaica

I very much enjoyed your reactions and insight...never censor yourself! I'm learning from you and I like that! When this TV series first came out and I watched it, my reaction to Louis wanting to save Claudia very much touched me initially. Him seeing a dying child losing her mortal life, never to walk on Earth again....his "mortal" instinct kicked in to save her, especially since he caused the fire. I imagined his vampire brain then immediately took over and he knew if she was turned, she would be "saved" to continue walking on this Earth...never once thinking of the consequences despite Lestat's initial protest. As this episode progressed back then when I watched it, it reminded me that we mortals all make mistakes which we regret and some make totally reckless mistakes either in the heat of the moment or planned...that have horrific outcomes. Louis and Claudia have a lot to learn!! As this series goes on, you will find yourself immersed in this vampire world which will continue to have shocking and jaw dropping moments as it mingles with the mortal world! Get ready!!! Will be looking forward to your reactions to the rest of this season and beyond because I know what is coming!! I'm very eager for Season 3 next year!!!

Kim

Really great assessment! You predict a lot before it happens lol When I first watched this show, I didn’t care for Claudia. I thought she was annoying but reactions like this have made me realize I was too harsh on her. I can’t imagine being stuck in a young body while my mind develops. I like how you really analyze everything and I agree, you can come to so many conclusions. I watched when it first came out in 2022 and still keep changing my mind lol

Ashley

🙏🏿

Raymond Walker

Your observations are totally valid and hit the nail on the head. That's the thing about this series. Every single character is extremely flawed and their actions reflect their own trauma. Becoming immortal did not magically fix all their issues. <3

Holly Robertson

Yall about to make me record this next episode like right now!!

Raymond Walker

Whew great reaction and trust it was not unfair. It’s what you initially felt. This show is going to take you on an emotional rollercoaster. For me personally I love/hate all the characters. Brace yourself is all I can tell yea.. whew

Partrice

Yeah… episode 5 is a hard watch, I feel like thought this was bad you gonna go off

RÆY

I think your observations about Lestat and Louis are very astute for this episode. And i feel like you really pick up the nuances in the characters more than others. A lot of people watch the show and see Louis only as a helpless victim who's being controlled and manipulated by Lestat, which is just not the way it is. It's nice to see you pick up on Louis' own selfishness and manipulation too. And the fact that he's always trying to hide who he is and pretend he's something he's not. The more you learn about Lestat's past, the more your points here will be validated - about him making her watch the burning being linked to his past experiences. Another thing I noticed in this episode is that when Claudia is going out hunting and Lestat says "happy hunting!"....Just before that, Louis tells her telepathically "don't do something he would do" and it clearly looks like Lestat hears him. If you watch his expression change and how he glances slightly at Louis. I definitely think he heard that! Hmm...

Kim D

Oh hahahaa that was mild sauce 🤣🤣they saying 5 is crazy so maybe ill really go off the deep end l..thanks for watching

Raymond Walker

Dude your preemptive warning made me think you were gonna go off the deep end with your commentary (which is also fine) but your thoughts were reasonable and definitely a fair assessment. Another great reaction👍🏾thanks

Andre

I love Deftones! Great way to start watching IWTV, but if you were looking for more music that fits the vibes of this show I'd recommend listening to some Hozier if you haven't already. He's fucking great. Claudia is 14 by the way. She does act a little younger than you'd expect for her age. It's probably a nod to the fact that her book character was 5. And you asked if she was aging, yes she's aging mentally, but not physically. She'll stay in that 14 year old body forever. Love that you clocked Louis on the animal blood drinking and how it links to his sexuality. They've said it before, but on some level sexuality is closely linked to their vampire nature. Louis's choice to drink animal blood is a parallel to the very real internalized homophobia he's struggled with from the society he grew up in. And the fact that he also grew up Catholic is a sign, to me, that the fact that he still drinks from animals in the present, along with forcing himself to eat human food that taste like soap, is a sure sign that he probably has some level of religious guilt and is self-punishing. TRAUMAAAAA. And this is probably why I relate to Louis so much and he's my fave lol as a queer Southern black woman who grew up Christian and has got so much trauma to unpack, I see him! Love that you noticed the classic horror set up when Lestat dipped that lady and killed her lol Definitely an homage! Even the way Claudia killed that man and the blood splattered was giving vintage horror. I believe Louis loves Claudia a lot and Lestat definitely has affection for her, but their parenting is....something. For one they need to learn to be on one accord, but they're so different it was kinda doomed from the start. Louis (Daddy Lou) is the coddling parent and he's ashamed of his own vampire nature so of course he'd want to raise Claudia like a human child. Lestat (Uncle Les) only turned her to keep Louis, and he'd rather raise a good vampire than give her the support she needs as the child she still mentally is. They shouldn't have turned her at all, but rather than combine forces and try their best to do right by her, they'd rather do what they want with her individually and then fight with each other in front of her, AND force themselves to pretend the problems aren't there "for her saker" when they really just don't wanna deal with it all because they're also codependent. In terms of their relationship Lestat turned her to keep Louis with him and Louis was hoping having a child would improve their relationship. Selfish all around. You're right, Louis ABSOLUTELY did to Claudia what Lestat did to him. Minus the romance of course. Lestat didn't want to be alone and he fell in love with Louis, so he turned him. Louis felt guilty and wanted a sign that he still had some humanity left, so he adopted a child. Lestat didn't tell Louis the full picture of what he was signing up for and had an image he wanted Louis to fulfill. Louis asked Lestat to turn Claudia without her consent and had an idea of what Claudia would be, for HIM. As a child of divorce I feel for Claudia. Fortunately, my parents hate each other and knew being around each other was good for no one, early. Louis and Lestat kept this going for YEARS. I love everything you had to say, for some reason there's a small sect of people who watch this show, who DON'T like Claudia and don't have any sympathy for her (and some of them love Lestat so the disconnect is wild to me), but I'm glad you can clearly see how fucked over she was by them. Honestly, now that you said Lestat's lil speech about not getting close to mortals wasn't for her, it was for him, it's made me think. I always equated it to the abuse Lestat grew up with and his experience as a vampire, which is still a factor, but part of me is thinking this may have been something he said partly as a lesson to himself, in regards to Louis. In some ways, Louis is TOO human even as a vampire and I wonder if, even though he still loves Louis, Lestat may be regretting falling for Louis and turning him, seeing how wrong it's going. Love that this show has you spiraling, as evil as that sounds LMAO Can't wait for next episode, this show gets even crazier if you can believe it.

sierra's reaction corner

As a teacher of kids Claudia's age (I just retired after 30 years), I cannot imagine being stuck forever in that body. I'm glad her mind progresses, too, but she can never ever change or evolve her bodily form. It's tragic, really. Fun fact: In the books, Claudia is actually five years old. They aged her up (thankfully!) to 14 for the series. Louis is selfish and wants to make up for what he did by saving Claudia and probably because he's basically lost his human family. Lestat does know better -- he tells him it's a horrible idea -- but Lestat wants to do it to make Louis happy. It's really disaster all around. Yes, they have some fun times and memories, but taking a hormonal 14 year old and trapping her in the body of an apex predator is BAD NEWS. Poor Claudia. :/

Melissa

I LOVE your analogy with Louis masking his homosexuality with how he masks his monstrous nature and need for human blood. Louis has so much humanity inside of him that he cannot shed even though he's literally a monster now. Lestat peeked that monster inside of him -- but we really only see that come out when Louis is angry. Otherwise, he's rather passive and even withholding. I never made the connection with the feeding/sexuality conflicts, though. Thank you for that!

Melissa

And that's my problem with Louis, he has had ample time to reasses and make changes in his behavior or understand his faults. So what does he do. Instead of investing in assests again( lesson not learned as Lestat tried eluding too) he turns a child into a vampire for some misguided sense of self worth fuck outta here dude smh. Then we got Lestat, so in love he goes against what he KNOWS is wrong you can see it in Sam Reids face ( great acting btw) but for what? You're aware you and Louis relationship is rocky so you want to do this to keep him close? (love+stupidity+a fear of being alone) So who has to suffer? CLAUDIA You both wanna be dumbasses fine but keep her out of it smh ugh!! 🤣🤣🤣I can't 🤦🏿‍♂️

Raymond Walker

Please don’t feel like you have to tweak or walk anything back. You’re definitely right in feeling the way you feel. Louis is definitely oblivious to a lot. And lestat should have known better. Great reaction as always.

Val

aaaayyyy, you know the vibes!!!

Raymond Walker

Love Deftones!
