Every story needs a villain.

Hey all! Hope everybody is staying safe during these strange times. I'm sure we're all feeling a little bit anxious with what's happening around the world these days, I know I certainly have been.

I'm thankful that I have both the ability and the opportunity to duck into a space in my head and create my own worlds, especially now when a bit of mental reprieve is something we all probably need.

I've been working on the antagonist for the new Oscar story for the last several weeks and one thing I've realized is that there's been villains in Oscar's adventures, and there have been monsters, but there hasn't been a character that was both. Most of Oscar's antagonists have been faceless, primal entities. The ones with real personalities were usually human or semi-human beings whose agendas and philosophies differed from Oscar's (ie. Doctor Corpus).

This time around I wanted to come up with a character that was actively working against the heroes. A character that was both the problem that needs to be solved, as well as the agent preventing the solution of a problem. Here's who I came up with:

I don't have all the details of her backstory yet. I don't even have a name. But so far this is what i know about her:

- A Queen of some sort.

- poessesss an insatiable hunger

- shape shifter, (her true form is far more monstrous than the one we see here)

- commands a horde of some sort... I'm thinking giants that ride on the back of woodland animals

There's still a lot to figure out about her but I like the simplicity of her motivation: She wants to eat you, however she may not eat you if you can tempt her with something else more delicious to eat.

I still need to figure out what her relationship to either Oscar or the girl is however. But having another character involved certainly helps me build out the story from another angle. Will have more to share soon!
