Some updates, end-of-year-wise

Hello, all you beautiful people :)

It has been a while. I haven't really known what to say, and it's been a... let's say a not-great year. So I've been remiss in doing what I should've done, which is to at least let you know what's going on. I can't promise I will do better! I can promise I will try to do better ;)

Because also, I realize that if you're not keeping tabs on any given project there's no clear way of tracking those updates. The major refactoring of the mapping system (to support the new content in Crucible) is probably the most significant of these, in that the continent greebling is in pretty solid shape and the map versioning is also coming along. I have started work on some campaign maps to diagram the fighting, to wit:

I haven't decided if this is the final form they'll take, or whether I want to use the built-in animation functions in the map, instead. I think the static ones like these are more useful.

Beyond that, I've made some changes to the Rukhat dictionary, and also changed how moods work in Rukhat a little bit. If you follow me on Twitter, this can be seen in the chords for "Sloop John B" in Rukhat, if that's the kind of thing you would like to learn on guitar :P

(It is the kind of thing I learned on guitar)

I have also been making regular updates to the stories on writing.dog and the Dropbox folder where  rough drafts go, so hopefully you know that I am alive. This will continue to be the case :P

But mostly I wanted to say that you all are wonderful, and that you've helped keep me writing and given me motivation not to stop doing so over an 18-month span that has offered plenty of reasons to give up. I am happy that we share a world, and I'm incredibly grateful for you.

As closing notes:

1. If you are a patron, you should have registered on writing.dog, because that's where most of the patron-only content goes;

2. If you are a Chicagoan or here this weekend for... reasons... you should let me know and I will buy you a drink and give you a hug, or not as your social distancing comfort levels warrant

3. I love you <3

Comments

This is a lot of love and apologizing! 1) We love you too! 2) No need to apologize. It's been a terrible time these past few years (goodness, it sounds like I'm writing a letter to a loved one away at war) and no one faults you for not being motivated or for taking care of yourself. A lot of us have shut down in many different ways and there's no "right or wrong" way to do that (to have that happen?), so long as you come out of it on the other side. Even if you come out of it changed (we all have been), you're still you and we still love you.
