The Unsolved Vanishing Of Mushroom Hunter Hildegard Hendrickson

I think ur ignoring the most likely situation, big foot kidnapped her! Jk

I need to rewatch this video. You definitely would think 🤔 they would have found her and the guy made a good point about the birds. The area with the dead 💀 smell should be searched more extensively. I really would like to know what was stinking back there. I spend a lot of time in the remote areas. I always joke at the most dangerous thing is humans. Two days ago I was out walking my dogs and a kid around the age of 12 had a gun pulled on my dog not realizing I was around (my Dog was just minding her own business) . Humans are dangerous.

Well done as always. I tend to agree that foul play if the most likely scenario. If the fact that someone would kill over mushrooms doesn’t illustrate how seriously they take collecting them, then the fact that they would transport the body out of the area certainly does. Doing so is very high-risk, not just because of the possibility of getting caught in the act, but of exposing one’s vehicle to unavoidable forensic material. These are the sorts of places where people dispose of bodies, so to instead remove one shows an incredible desire to not “contaminate” the favorite hunting ground.

I think foul play is the most likely cause of her disappearance. She had had run-ins with at least one of the odd characters who appeared during the search, and who knows how many others. If she threatened to make a complaint about one of them, and that person was in a bad frame of mind for whatever reason, just about anything could have happened. As mentioned, some of these characters seem pretty messed up.

They did find some collected mushrooms in brown paper bags. They did not find her mushroom picking basket or walking stick. I think your theory is certainly plausible.

Perhaps I wasn't listening as attentively as I should have, but, didn't they find a bag of mushrooms in the trunk of her car? They also found all her belongings and valuables in her unlocked car? It seems to me, after picking enough mushrooms for the day, she returned to her car, put her things inside, and at that moment was accosted by another mushroom picker who had a beef with her, likely over her admonishing them for illegal activity. She was never found because at that point she was physically removed from the area.

Another great video, Nick. Lots of echoes of last year's "How Do People Vanish Without A Trace? A Few Case Studies" video.

Ok I’ve watched twice now, certainly bizarre but my husband does look a lot like the guy you’ve labeled “strange man” and he takes offense 😅😅

Very interesting case. I feel like if she had a medical issue, her body would have been in a high traffic area as she wasn’t capable of “wandering” to far off. That said with all the traffic in the area looking for mushrooms , I feel like her body is found quickly, smell of decay, bright shirt etc…This reeks of foul play and the body being moved. Great job on the presentation Nick.

foul play. One of the mushroom hunters killed her to keep her from telling the authorities about what he was doing. BTW, I love the music you use, and I love it when you go on location.

Outstanding work! I also believe it was foul play. While local authorities seemingly did everything they practically could, it is a shame the FBI did not investigate. The park appears to be federal land, which would convey investigative jurisdiction to the Bureau. Further, violence on federal land against an elderly person should be an additional consideration. The FBI could have used its resources to comprehensively investigate the cast of shady characters and perhaps question them. It is without question that these characters likely violated laws against the commercial picking of mushrooms, which would be an additional predicate for an FBI investigation while trying to solve what happened to this victim.
