Possibly The Most Perplexing Disappearance Out There

Comments

I wish there was more information about the last time he went missing. I wonder what caused that problem and how he got off track.

That’s my train of thoughts too! The only reason he would have ventured off path.

The most rational conclusion I can make is, Bigfoot kidnapped him.

I live close to Orinda, and I believe the elevation is a few hundred feet. If Nick feels exhausted from the elevation, I can’t imagine how Carl must have felt. It’s amazing that these friends had the wherewithal to even begin the hike up to Shasta. True adventurers!

The issue with an avalanche theory is that there were a lot of people climbing that day. They all file up and down the mountain in a relatively straight line. An avalanche would have been noticed. It is also my understanding that historical seismic data shows no activity on that day. Usually, avalanches affect those seismic instruments.

It seems that walking on the stone causeway trail would be difficult, more so than navigating rubble along the ground around the causeway. Very dangerous if the trail is partially covered in snow and you can’t make out that really rough surface. This episode reminds me a bit of the missing woman hiker who turned up much later, her foot peeking out from below a rock slide. Maybe Carl was somehow buried in rock?

Great job on the Video, Nick and thank you for hiking so I don't have to.

I wonder if Carl was having more stomach problems and needed to relieve himself. But because of the terrain and a desire for privacy he ended up going waaayyy off trail where he met his fate. Something non-paranormal must have driven him from the trail and made it harder to find his body.

I have a lot of questions about the search. Grizz Adams never responded to my questions either. The main deputy on scene didn't even seem to know where Carl was last seen so it seems the search was a bit messy in some areas.

This one was outstanding. I think I first heard about the Carl Landers disappearance here on TME. This video is one of the reasons I appreciate this site so much, the fact that you are willing to travel to the location and hike the actual trail to see how difficult it really was for someone like Landers to have made the ascent. Kudos.

The only conclusionsI can come up with is some sort of "dead fall" hole in the rock or an animal in thebwoods carried him off. This is a tough nut to crack.

Brad from FL

Milt didn’t know for sure who he saw

Ok now that I’ve watched 3 times I wonder why the search didn’t start at the spot where Carl was last seen? His friends said they never saw him again after he left the tent, we can’t assume he headed where he was supposed to go 😵‍💫
