Tough case, I think the benzos he was found with (xanax and the empty diazepam) are more likely to be a factor than the suboxone... Suboxone is a safety net for addicts, if he was out hunting (a leisure activity) he wasn't in withdrawal and even if he was he had plenty of buprenorphine(sub). He had plenty of Xanax as well it seems so benzo withdrawal seems unlikely. I am a bit bothered at the cocktail though, I know in NY we don't prescribe Benzos to bupe patients. Not only because of the CNS depressant but more so because of the high abuse factor of benzos, its like giving a kid candy bar and telling them to eat it over the week. Suboxone has a ceiling effect, once it clings to the receptor most withdrawal is gone but you can no longer get high off opiates easily because of the high affinity bupe binds with. Benzos also have a bad history of making people make poor decisions, you can black out very easily on xanax and diazepam. A half mile trip could seem an insurmountable task and the false sense of security anxiety medications can give you could be a lethal combo.

He could have been under the influence of benzos while becoming lost or injured. When withdrawals started, he would have been in a world of hurt. We wondered if they removed his meds from the truck or if he’d not taken them in the first place? I’ve seen people do extraordinary things to get suboxone or benzos working with behavioral health patients. Somehow I think this all revolves around the meds

Man your work is so good. Thank you for going above & beyond for your research. So glad you started a patreon. Love your style & I'm sure it's takes a ton of work for a single video. Fantastic work on the Yuba 5 videos. A bit different from your usual but I would like to recommend a few stories that would be amazing in your style.

Hey man great video as usual. Not sure if you knew this or not, but Xanax withdrawal is similar to alcohol withdrawal in that it can come on suddenly and lead to death. If he was abusing his Xanax and was forced to go without it for a day or two it's possible he could have had a seizure and died. Or panicked and put himself in a worse situation in an attempt to reach his car and medication.

Great video as always and I'll have to watch the new 411 movie now just to see what he had to say about it.
