Almost February Update

In short

Working on multiple, previously mentioned things, it's going well and I'm looking forward to releasing things more frequently when those are done, I'll be releasing an early prototype of one of those projects in less than a month and also there's a new Quecto for >=$3 tier patrons bye.

In long: Bullet hell-like

For those of you who've found the wacky secrets within the Lampyrid Fog, or followed its post-release updates, this paragraph should come as no surprise. A proper top-down adventure with copious numbers of bullets is in the works. It's getting slightly more extensive than I initially envisioned, and I'm putting this on hold (which I realise is a small red flag at this point) while finishing the projects I'll briefly mention in "In long: Other projects".

Anyway, keeping it vague: the main themes of this game are snow and mollusks. The very first areas are playable and enjoyable enough as of now that I'll be releasing it as an early prototype for Cloud Swimmer ($5) Patrons and up within a month or so. You'll see what significance "snow and mollusks" has in more detail then. For now, here's one singular screenshot:

The first dungeon is indeed visually based on the secret areas in Lampyrid Fog. The other 2 or 3 and the overworld are quite different though! Also, if you look not very closely, you will spot a significant number of the aforementioned mollusks.

In long: Other projects

I still don't know what the next release will be. My collection of in progress projects is largely the same as what I described in the New Year's post. Partially rereading that should give you a basic idea of what I'm currently trying.

I've given myself a sort of ultimatum that I won't start any brand-new projects until I finish at least 2 existing ones. There are a lot of existing ones. Anyway, I'd put my betting money on Ferry Wheel Mobile as next release, maybe something completely random as a small web game. The thing is that I want to get at least part of my foot in the mobile market, as it appears to be potentially lucrative market (and I really need some income...).

In long: Quecto

This month's Quecto, Leaky Ceiling, is a bit late, because I was hiking around on vacation, getting in all sorts of crazy trouble*. But it's still on time as it is still January. Download it HERE if you are at least a Tower Climber patron. At least, on my calender. This month's Quecto seems very basic. That's mostly due to the fact that it is very basic. It has a little bit of history though, as it was the first game I ever attempted to make for a full release. This was back in ye olde days of Flash (Rest in Peace). The idea was to make something simple enough so that I could finish it all the way and learn all the basics of Flash programming along the way. I never finished it because I just didn't think it was interesting enough, but promised myself I'd release it in some shape or form some day. Instead, Stone Cataclysm became my oldest, publicly released game.

While Leaky Ceiling's gameplay isn't the most riveting thing in the world, I think the several "endings" you can unlock based on your score make the game just fun enough to get all badges.

That's it, bye.

* I did not actually get into any trouble on vacation.
