100 bucks

The Patreon page has crashed through the $100 ceiling, completely breaking it and leaving only destruction in its wake. A thank you of massive proportions to anyone supporting me over the years, now or in the past. I initially made this page on a whim, I'm glad that it actually went anywhere. I'll try my best to not let you down.

To be completely honest, there's another reason why I'm using this rather arbitrary milestone to write a post: namely to mention that I've made a few subtle ch...

Pent and its distant future

Summer's done searing,
Smell of mushrooms, coloured leaves,
Autumn's way too short.

Anyway, time to look back at my most recent game, what I've been up to recently and what I'll finally be working on again for quite a while.

In a way, Pent's Wacky, Zany Road Trip to Adulthood was another attempt to break away from the status quo, in the same...

A Quick September Update

Tl;dr: Break -> Ludum Dare -> Quecto, maybe halloween -> CT

I realised I've been quiet on here for a whole month. It's only fair that you get updated once in a while. What next? The answer is more concrete than usual.

Reset

After finally finalizing the final versions of Pent's Wacky, Zany Road Trip to Adulthood for different platforms today, I'll be on hiatus starting tomorrow. The past year reached peak chaotic productivity: my focu...

New game: Pent's Wacky, Zany Road Trip to Adulthood

Well, I hope that was worth the wait, because this one took forever. I sincerely have no idea if people will like this one; I've yet again shaken things up a bit and tried some different things. None of my games have had this much dialogue, that's for sure. Anyway, without furhter ado:

Pent's Wacky, Zany Road Trip to Adulthood follows the endeavors of an aspiring full adult pentagon, who is tasked with driving the Most Dangerous Road in the World. Even getting there is a grand adventure...

New Quality Quecto and shmups

Context and such

It's gotta happen someday, right? At some point in the future I'll finally succeed in making a fully-fletched shmup that's actually good. For those unaware, shmups refer to the shoot 'm up genre of video games. The ones where you control a small player, shooting and dodging enemies and other hazards appearing above you while the screen scrolls upwards. Kinda like Space Invaders, but with a vertically scrolling screen. Like Ikaruga. Like...

May 2024 Update, Stuff and also a Quecto too as well

I took way too long to put out another one of these posts, so let's get right into it.

Currently

My current project is something that, if I do indeed finish it (which is very much the plan) and release it as a web game, will be one of my largest games. I had hoped to get it done last month, but apparently after having made this many games I am still incapable of estimating the amount of work a game needs. The takeaway might be that games require a lot of ti...

Mollusca Prototype

I made an early prototype of a top-down, action-adventure with a bunch of bullets and some puzzles. It's web-based, so no spooky scary downloads. Go play it!

This is the result of messing about with the genre in Lampyrid Fog. I have no idea when to finish this and in what form, but at least there's already some decent stuff to (hopefully) enjoy. Feedback is very welcome, but of course completely optional.

Almost February Update

In short

Working on multiple, previously mentioned things, it's going well and I'm looking forward to releasing things more frequently when those are done, I'll be releasing an early prototype of one of those projects in less than a month and also there's a new Quecto for >=$3 tier patrons bye.

2023's final updates and Quecto

Quectooooo~

I've been informed that today is, in fact, the Christmas. What better way to celebrate than with a brand new Quecto game (I can think of a couple, but let's move on)! Any Patron who has at least the Tower Climber (>=$3) tier can download the updated version RIGHT HERE I hope. You do still need an Itch account.

New Quecto! And some small updates~

For >= $3.00 Patrons (Quecto):

New month, new Quecto! This specific month brings you something completely different from last month: a fishing game. One that is actually, unironically, no-string-attached, meant to be sort of relaxing. We also see the introduction to badges: each Quecto will have a Normal, a Hard and a Secret badge to collect. I've done the whole Patreon-Itch integration thing, so downloading is slightly different. This link and download should work i...

Quecto Games

Here it is! The first of the monthly "Extremely Small Games", the >= $3 tier reward is done.

What?
Quecto Games (or Quectos) is a collection of very small games. It's an outlet for whatever I feel like. A Quecto could be a concept for a game that I didn't think could be something bigger, a little brain teaser, or an interactive pixel art. One singular Quecto aims to provide you with at least multiple real life minutes of entertainment. Since they'll vary a lot in ...

Quick update

Lost in Lampyrid Fog released little over a week ago and that's going well. After my hiatus I did forget one thing though: namely how exhausting a release is mentally. At least for me. As such, the first batch of the $3 tier rewards are taking a bit longer than I have previously stated, but I'm back at work again. The first "extremely small" game will release this Saturday (October 14).

I also feel the need to temper any expectations a little bit: these "extremely small" monthly games ...

New game: Lost in Lampyrid Fog

Well, that took a while, but I've finally released a new game. If you liked Lost in Firefly Forest I'm 96% sure you'll like this one as well, since it's based on that. Lost in Lampyrid Fog got a bit bigger than its predecessor though, so finding your way might prove even more challenging!

Play it on Itch HERE.

Updated tiers!

Tiers have been updated, I think you have to manually switch to a higher one, even if your monthly contribution is already enough for it. The timing's a bit awkward, as I'm releasing a full game this week, but also want to release the "extremely small games" for the >=$3 tier asap so you can play them. I'd like the demo of the latter to have its own release, but don't want to draw attention away from the Lost in Firefly Forest sequel.

The most likely scenario is that Firefly's seque...

Changing my Patreon page (but actually)

In 5 days it'll be exactly a year since I created this post here on Patreon, where I discussed upgrading my Patreon page into something a bit more interesting in the near future. I've been thinking trying to figure out what to do next with my work, especially regarding generating some sort of actual revenue. Unsurprisingly, completely free web games, while not running any ads myself, is not the mos...

March 2023 Update

For the last couple of months, my work has been spread on so many different projects, it feels like I'm accomplishing a lot and very little at the same time. There's been progress on Sunken City, on some webgames I intend to release soon, and on a significant number of side projects that could go anywhere. While trying out new ideas is fun and can lead to some cool stuff, it's time to regain focus and actually finish some projects. We've already reached March of this year without a new releas...

Flower Flight prototype

Hello~

Here's a prototype for a challenging, mouse-based skill game, for patrons only.
Unlike most of my work, this one's a downloadable for Windows. That allowed me to make it look a little bit fancier than usual. And it was just way more convenient.

Click on the link above or here to go to the Itch page and download Flower Flight.

Hope you enjoy. I like h...

Changing my Patreon page

I originally made this Patreon page because I noticed there was an interest (albeit limited) in making donations for my work. As such, I never really expanded upon a basic Patreon page that fulfills that purpose. Time to change that a bit. Consider this post an announcement, these changes are to be implemented next month.

Tiers

I'll be adding 2 more tiers, resulting in 3 tiers total. All of these might change, but this is what I'm thinking as of this moment:<...

July 2022 update

Hey, hope you're having an at least relatively acceptable summer. Here's an update on what I'm doing right now and what I will be doing in the (near) future.

Right now I'm working on multiple projects, namely:

- Cursed Travels: Sunken City. As you're probably already aware, this huge entry in the Cursed Travels series can be wishlisted on Steam right here. Currently the ...

Cursed Travels: Below the Factory

And there it is, the fourth game in the Cursed Travels series: Cursed Travels: Below the Factory. This is also very likely the last one as a free web-based game, at least until Sunken City is done.

Anyway, play it on Itch.

I'm quite happy with this one. Hope you enjoy it as well.
Onto Sunken City..!

- The game will be multiple times bigger than all of the web games... combined!

Stone Blast Prototype

As I've mentioned in my previous post, here's the Patron-exclusive release of how far I got with a shmup before I abandoned it indefinitely. During development I came to the realisation that my approach for designing this project didn't quite work for this genre. Being used to platformers, puzzle games, and everything in between meant that something as densely designed and action-packed as a shmup wasn't as easy to design as one might hope. So if I ever return to this project, the levels will...

March 2022 update

Whoops, I got sick there for a while and couldn't get anything done for a while. Here's an overview of where things are.

Cursed Travels

The good news is that I had already almost finished the fourth Cursed Travels before being reduced to a sniffling pile of mucus and headaches. All that's left are the ending cutscene and some audio balancing stuff. I'm working on the ending right now. Well, I'm writing this post right now, but you get the point.

New game! Cursed Travels: A Forgotten Seal is out now!

The third game in the Cursed Travels series can be played right now for free on Itch and on Newgrounds.

New Cursed Travels: The Shattered Labyrinth

My latest game is done! The Shattered Labyrinth is the second instalment in the Cursed Travels series. Explore a dark labyrinth beneath an ominous mausoleum by moving its pieces. Solve puzzles and riddles and rid the ancient mausoleum of a very angry spirit.

As a side note: the first one, Flame of the banshee, was too much fun to make, so expect even more Cursed Travels in the future. For now, I hope you enjoy this one.

Prototype Boss Fight game

This game isn't going anywhere in the foreseeable future, but a fair chunk of it is perfectly playable. Figured I might as well share it with just you. Just click the link above and see how far you can get, if you'd like.
Note that it lacks sound effects here and there and ends a bit abruptly. One other reason I've halted development on this one is that stuff like the gameplay and difficulty balance need some reworking. More of my own criticism in the game's description.
