"Rabbit" 10 Years Later

Patrons! In honor of "Rabbit" turning 10 years old, me and Pat got together the other night to record ourselves on my phone talking about the album! It's a totally unprepared and only slightly edited video that is over an hour long. We go through every song on Rabbit and discuss our memories, share our feelings, and reveal secrets of the songs! Hope you enjoy!

I love how I basically look like the dude that just pumped your gas -Pat

Your stories of discovering Genesis and hooking up with echolyn gave me the feels. Rabbit still holds up as a truly brilliant album and yeah Kyle nailed it!

Thanks, Derrek. Yes, music has a real healing potential that it pretty fantastic. Sounds like you’ve experienced some of that yourself -Pat

Thanks, Adrian. Glad you found this interesting. Discovering Genesis was definitely a game changer for me! -Pat

More of these types of videos please! So awesome watching you guys geek out recalling the stuff you wrote and hearing the stories behind the songs. As a musician myself, it brings back a lot of memories from my time playing in bands and writing and recording music and the comradery of the songwriting process with your buddies. It's always so cathartic and this video is a huge reminder of that. Royal Oil Can is definitely something to be proud of and is 1A or 1B along with Creature for my favorite Tea Club song. Quickly Quickly Quickly was my first taste of Tea Club, but I soon found Rabbit and that album is what really hooked me. It's a complete work of art from start to finish. Huge props to your wife for the awesome artwork as well!

And proud you should be! It's just as incredible as everything else on the album and some of my favourite parts in others. The end of "He is Like a Spider," all of "The Night I Killed Steve Shelley," the last sequence in "Nuclear Density Gauge." Thanks for writing excellent drums for an excellent album!

Thank you so much for sharing! I loved hearing how some of these lyrics came about because they are utterly sublime. Knowing what headspace you were in when you wrote them helps to put the whole album into perspective. As someone who also knows how hard it can be to write lyrics - you are both incredible storytellers. I'm also glad to know I'm not the alone in experiencing a Genesis epiphany :D Thank you for all the music and for wearing your hearts on your sleeves. You guys are wonderful <3

Wow what an experience. I'm really proud of this album. I remember Dan playing the guitar line to he is like a spider and I wrote the drums instantly. I believe we finished almost all of that song in one practice. Then you have songs like astro which was the most challenging song to write drums to that added to the music rather than taking away from it. Every song on here is extremely complex and sincere. I remember the writing process of this album and being intimidated by the progression of dan and pats song writing. What a leap from general winter. Overall a very dark album but I believe the most sincere song writing I've ever heard.
