New "Mechanic's Club" Tier

Ooh, look! Patreon and Sellfy have set up an API that allows us to offer discounts at the TWDB Sellfy Store (https://sellfy.com/twdb) to TWDB Tier-level Patrons through some arcane technomagic. We've set up our first Patreon Tier and we waved the magic wand over it that theoretically should have set up the method by which you can get a 50% discount on whatever PDF Typewriter Repair Manuals you get from the TWDB Sellfy store while you are a member of the Tier. At least that's how I think it works. I can't really test it, so hopefully someone already at the $2+ level will join the "Mechanic's Club" Tier and let me know if it's working correctly. :D

Sellfy suggested I send users to this link to figure out how to add themselves to the Tier, which you need to do yourself, as Sellfy doesn't let me auto-add existing users who meet the Patreon level:

To claim Tier benefits in the TWDB Sellfy store, patrons need to authorize with their Patreon account. They will instantly see the discounted products available to them exclusively.

The TWDB Sellfy Patreon member area is located at:

Comments

Ahh, if you want to become a Typewriter Hunter and gain access to uploading galleries, you just have to ask. This is noted both in the confirmation email that is sent to you when you join and also in the FAQ: https://typewriterdatabase.com/twdb.0.faq However, if you need me to specifically tell you in person how it is done, here you are: Sign up to become a "Member", and click the validation link in the email that is sent to you. Go to your Account page, enter a short description and upload a profile photo. Then go to this post on my blog, and leave a comment asking to be upgraded. Be sure to let me know what your username is so I can do that. http://munk.org/typecast/2013/02/10/beta-testers-for-typewriter-database-wanted/ And that's it. I will usually upgrade you within anywhere from a few minutes to a day after you make the request, depending on if I happen to be near my computer or not. Once upgraded to "Typewriter Hunter", you'll have access to the tools for browsing and downloading from the TWDB file library, you can add links to various pages, upload typewriter galleries and participate in the conversations that happen among your fellow Typewriter Hunters. Enjoy!

I stopped contributing because I never heard anything from anyone at TWDB. I didn't want thanks. I am grateful for the information and the hard work that you do there. YOU deserve the thanks. But I also wanted to be able to contribute to the galleries and become a more participatory member. I deal with 100s of typewriters a month and I thought maybe some of my experience, information etc could be valuable. But I hear nothing from you about becoming a more contributing member (I can't remember the exact term you use there.). But best wishes on your continued good work. Cheers!

odd. yeah, it should work after you've logged in and made sure there aren't any external blocks or old cookies around. Let me know what you find when you try the new browser. (:
