More control over your Hawk Alerts with "New listings"

If you've ever received a Hawk Alert and thought "why did I get an alert for that set, it's not even on sale!?", then you are not the only one! It's the most common question people ask about BrickHawk, and it should now be a question of the past...

99% of the time this was occurring because a retailer added a set (that you had hawked) to their website for the very first time. It may sound strange, but this "feature" has been in BrickHawk from the very beginning - way back when it was a simple script that alerted one LEGO fan to sets whenever and wherever they first appeared, so that they could run into the retailer's bricks-and-mortar store, and see it on the shelf!

Whilst this was handy for one person, it's not ideal for everyone. So to fix this, "New listings" is now an option you can set for each and every Hawk. Switch it on, and you will receive an alert, regardless of the set's price, whenever a retailer adds the set to their website. Leave it off (which is the default setting), and no alerts will be sent when a retailer first adds the set*.

* Except... when you have RRP Comparison enabled AND the newly listed set's price meets the percentage threshold you have set. "What!?" you say? The idea here is that if a retailer adds a new set, and it's below the threshold you have set, you would most likely want an alert. For example - who wouldn't want an alert if a retailer adds the new Disney Train and Station on their website for say, $399, and you've got an alert at 10% off set!? This only works when RRP comparison is enabled, as this allows for a percentage difference to be calculated.

Feedback on this arrangement would be most welcome - do you think the setup is right now? How could it be improved?

Hawk Alert email improvements

Speaking of feedback, the second most common question about BrickHawk was "why doesn't the Hawk Alert email have the price?". The answer used to be "because BrickHawk Alert emails only show what has changed", but due to popular demand, the emails will now include all pieces of information about the set, noting which have changed, and which haven't. For example:

BrickHawk goes global!

This happened last month - there are now more than ten new retailers across three new regions: New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. More regions and more retailers are coming soon. You can switch regions and take a look on the Account page, but remember that you will only receive alerts for retailers in the region that you have set for your account - remember to change it back to your actual region!

Again, your feedback on these new features, and anything else is always welcomed :)

Thanks!
BH.
