Payment Change

I have enabled the option for charging patrons up front (help page, and also). This means new patrons (or pledge changes) will be charged immediately, instead of at the beginning of the next month. As far as I can tell it shouldn't change anything for existing pledges.

My main reason for this is to make it clearer/easier for people who may only want to plege one month as a one-time support. Without paying up front enabled you'd have to pledge, wait until the 1st of next month for the payment to go through and then remember to cancel your pledge. Now (if I understand correctly), you should be able to pledge, get charged and cancel pretty much immediately (while still staying patron for the rest of that month).

A one-time support may not be what Patreon is aimed at, but if people choose to do it, it should at least be made as easy as possible. Of course continued support is very much appreciated as well.
