2020-10-28 06:48:37 +0000 UTCThe similarities between Dark City and The Matrix could just be explained by Campbell's story structure of the hero's journey that we see all over movies, books, comics etc. It could possibly be a rip-off but it could also just be the general way stories are told and a similar setting that makes it seem almost like a rip-off.

Every single conflict was resolved with a stupid blackmail that made no sense, the characters who are either world famous celebrities or wanted terrorists routinely go out in the middle of a public street talking to each other and nobody notices them, and half the subplots go absolutely nowhere. Shame that the show went so downhill after season 1
