SlapperCast 187 (Early Release, Extended Cut)
Added 2022-09-11 21:54:39 +0000 UTCEpisode 187 was recorded on the way to Sherwood Forest Faire and on the way back. It was a LONG but amazing day.
The night before we'd played at Molly's Pub in Kingwood, and didn't get home until after 2 AM. We then had to leave for Sherwood at 8:30 AM, each of us maybe two hours of sleep in the meantime. So the first segment gets off to a slow and humorously crabby start (I was also ticked off at the time because I thought I'd lost my old iPhone SE which I had brought to record auxiliary audio in the van… I later discovered it had slipped through a crack in the bench seat). Thankfully we found our bearings during the song kill segment, and then captured an awkward moment upon arriving at Sherwood where the gate security crew apparently weren't prepared for our arrival.
In between the segments is a staged promo clip that Sherwood Forest Faire posted during the day, featuring Patrick and Kevin talking up the festival before being interrupted by Piper Gunn, a bagpiper from Branson, MO. Piper slips and calls us "the" Blaggards which Patrick then gives him shit for. I might put this at the beginning of the final edit.
The final segment was recorded on the way home after we'd stopped for food, and ahead of us there was a brilliant night sky featuring the moon and Jupiter that showed up remarkably well on the video.
There's some great performance footage from the festival that we'll be sharing later as well.
