Right? Or Robbery? Jon Jones vs. Dominick Reyes
Added 2022-11-16 19:37:53 +0000 UTCSo it's pretty darn obvious that Dominick Reyes beat Jon Jones, right? Well, maybe not, as Texas has a slightly different outlook when it comes to MMA scoring, one that is unfortunately vague when it comes to its wording. Vague enough that we can squint and somehow see a win for Jon Jones? Well, watch along as I commentate over the fight as we decide once and for all whether (as of uploading) Jon Jones' last fight was truly right or robbery.
Also, it's a great time to look at Dominick Reyes career and figure out what went right and what went wrong for him, as in my opinion he's clearly a shot fighter. Did he look really good because he was kinda' good and his opposition was kinda' bad or was he actually decent but victim to some pretty brutal matchmaking post-Jones.

Really enjoyed this episode. I remember putting not an insignificant about of money on Reyes to win mid-way through Rd3. He clearly won the first 3 rounds in my eyes. He definitely faded in the last 2. I was counting my money when the scorecards were read and I have had a distrust of Texas judging ever since. Considering Reyes wasn`t at a "real camp" and essentially was training himself he did remarkably well . I think his lack of training with an established team resulted in the brutal KO`s he suffered. Talent and heart only get you so far. He is definitely washed now. He could have been the Champion of the World, for at least a brief period in time.

That said, 4 rounds for Jones is insane. This falls under the GSP / Johny Hendricks fight, wherein all fights that go to decision where no one gets dropped multiple times or gruesomely cut will go to the champ. Is that some horseshit? Of course! But it's common enough to serve as a fairly accurate predictor. Also, the Texas rules thing was just a point that was available to make so people made it - I don't think this would've been scored differently at the T-Mobile Arena or MSG or the O2.
