Wow! So very little consensus!

I LOVED reading all your ideas and suggestions for where to go with the next season, but also no clear and obvious pattern emerged. We'll keep that conversation going over the next few weeks. I have my ideas, but I'm still thinking it through.
I'm missing narrative stuff, but I'd also love to get more value out of the work we've put in with Paul. Hmmmmmm. Lots to think about.
For today, more Galatians 4.

Wow! So very little consensus!

I'm just catching up, but a similar tennis related anecdote: in our late teens my buddy was more athletic than me. Tennis was a good middle ground sport because he could move quicker but I was more skilled. He always struggled with the "at the net" stuff; so much so that, when I'd be out of breath and needed a break, I'd intentionally give him a high lofted shot right at the net (the kind of setup you live for because you're going to crush it)... because he couldn't control the adrenaline and that golden opportunity. *Every* time, he'd try over hit, usually sending the ball *out of the fence,* and I could catch my breath while he ran out chasing the wild ball he just hit. 20-something years later, I just recently admitted to him that I was doing it on purpose to take advantage of his crappy tennis game and catch my breath 🤣

Oh, and I was hoping Jeff might latch onto "Song for My Father" but figured a jazz bossa nova might be just a bit too outside.

Matt, I'm right there with you. For me, to think of God as "Daddy" seems just a little bit icky. But... My father-in-law was one of the most Godly men I've ever met. He was for sure the most patient and meek. I am so blessed to be linked in holy matrimony to his daughter. When she talks about him at the heart level, and when he was still alive, she would call him "Daddy." My daughter, likewise, when kidding around with me, or just having general conversation, calls me "Pops." If we're doing that eye to eye, hey look at me kid, this is real, tears following I need you right now conversation, she calls me "Daddy." If I think about God the Father and my relationship with Him, and knowing that Jesus called Him "Abba," and that I too through Jesus can call Him "Daddy" in the same way my wife and daughter use the term, well that's when it all snaps into focus, and I get it. Having said that, when prayer time comes around, my address is "Father." I get the Daddy thing, but I can't start my prayers with "Daddy."
