Saint Karen September Bonus Episode - Logan Marr

This is an extra special bonus episode this month. Saint Karen, the Patron Saint of the Bayou, brings you this truly heartbreaking case. AND as a bonus, because between Meg's school schedule and Coni's kids having crazy schedule had a drop the ball on our mini episodes (they're coming Sunday night), this episode will be available to all of our Patrons! Thanks for always sticking with us and understanding, you guys are the best. Also coming this week, all of our video versions for the last few months!

When paramedics arrive after the foster home of 5-year-old Logan Marr,  no one was prepared for what they would find and what would eventually  come to light. What happens when systems designed to protect children  and their families fail beyond comprehension? This week, Karen takes you through the life and death of Logan Marr.

Omg Allison??? Did you grow up in Lowell, MA???

This one hurts. I have so many friends who are foster parents. One is trained to take multiples so siblings can stay together. I have another who is a social worker for DCS. They are the true heroes. These families have a huge support system in place because they do go to the same church and also because their pastor has pulled in other local pastors to assist. Family and friends step up to go get their groceries or whatever, but we need to offer that assistance to everyone. It really does take a village. So many people today don’t understand the foster system. While I was on my infertility journey, I had so many people say to become a foster parent so I could cut the line to adopt a baby quicker. That is what they think the foster system is. They truly don’t understand that the whole point of it is to keep a family safely whole, whether that means together or apart. I knew spending time with my friends when they fostered a sibling set (2 under 2) and seeing the everything that the kids and adults went through on their journey, that I wasn’t strong enough to do it. I can only help from the sidelines. My son’s friend is always hungry and is in awe that we always have fruit out for them to eat. He says he doesn’t get it at home. He always seems hungry, but never starving. His clothes are clean and so is he. He doesn’t have any bruises either. Would I call CPS in this instance? Nope. I don’t see neglect. I did however, accidentally ordered 2 bunches of bananas, bag of apples and some other things. When I dropped him off, I took it to the door and asked if they could use it because it was too much for us. The mom was very grateful & I know it was put to good use. All they needed was just a leg up. Sorry, off on a tangent as usual. Great job Karen on such a difficult case!

wait a minute....maine?! i live near brunswick...
