Does the app do anything new or different than the website?
No, the app is essentially just a pointer to the website.
Is the app different than pinning beestat to the home screen?
Very slightly, but mostly no. Right now the only noticeable difference is that the system color theme for the navigation bar at the bottom of your phone does not properly change to a dark color inside the app.
Does the app cost money?
No that would be silly.
Is it open source?
Yes! Granted, there's not much to see, but the source code for the beestat app is on GitHub.
Why did you create the app?
Exposure, mostly. Much of my audience right now is fairly technical, having found beestat through Reddit or other online avenues. I'm hoping to show up in the search results for "ecobee" so that I can reach more people.
Are you going to make an iOS app?
If there is interest, maybe. Unfortunately the barrier to entry for Apple's App Store is much higher. It costs $99/year just to list your app and it's not very friendly to apps that just wrap a website. Not to mention I have no way to develop an iOS app as you need a Mac to do so.
