Hello, Lynette! I’m incredibly sorry to read that. My heart goes out to you. Teaching today is definitely, complex... to say the least. If you’re willing, I would love to connect and hear more about your story. Someone who devoted 27 years of their life to teaching does not deserve to be treated like that. Teaching really is a labor of love. I may not be able to give you your job back but as a historian I can make sure that your voice and experience is accurately preserved (only if you want it to be though). My email is sara@themakeuphistorian.com

Things changed visibly on Nov 9 2016--starting with the ubiquitous weeping students and a Jussie-Smollett-level hate crime hoax that our admin mourned over for a week to faculty and students in endless emails about the woeful state of the country during this time of Trump blah blah blah -- I was pressured to retire early in spring semester 2017, and censorship was growing rapidly worse even then

Hey, Sara, I was ousted after 27 years teaching in a meeting much like Lindsay Shepherd's, with anonymous "students" suddenly reporting on my misogyny and Islamophobia (I guess) the same week my contract was going to be renewed

So weird!! I can attest that things are already changing within academia and not for the better. I’m using this next month to build an entire new website to sell my classes at a reasonable price. I think the true scholars (who actually care about their students) are realizing they don’t necessarily need academia anymore. Fleccas! I have a business proposal (or trade offer, lol) if you teach me how to edit my video lectures because I definitely need help 😅, I will cook any meal for you! I’m dead serious and I’m southern. I know how to cook, haha.
