Leaderboards
Added 2019-05-18 03:52:58 +0000 UTCAs it turns out, leaderboards are actually a huge undertaking. The backend infrastructure is one thing - and it’s very important and hard to get that right - but all the UI that’s required to make the feature work is surprising.
- A way to paginate boards
- Being able to look a users position up
- Ensuring a good experience for mobile users with table heavy designs
- Ensuring it doesn’t set itself on fire
- Dealing with the inevitable depression caused by being on page 1618 for triumph score
- Constantly being pestered by the thoughts in the back of my end screaming “what about players who’ve used methods we collectively frown upon to attain certain records”
