Mid-October Update
Added 2021-10-22 00:04:34 +0000 UTCOriginally written on October 15th and modified twice since then.
... I've almost finished episode 4 focusing on the Doctor's troubles. It is a Doctor and Barclay focused episode. I've also removed the opening chapter (shared in an earlier post) and pushed it into episode 7. I have a new intro which explains the fall out from the Dominion War, setting up some aspects to the politics which will play into the story later. In hindsight it makes sense instead of talking about the history of Hong Kong. It's better to keep it in Harry's episode.
I'm introducing two new characters of my own creation, not ones found elsewhere in Star Trek canon.
- Lt. Hedor Pavaax, a non-joined Trill who is incredulous at the Doctor's abilities. He works at Pathfinder HQ.
- Admiral Curtanis Den Curry, A full Betazoid. An officer who reads minds without hesitation in order to get the job done. Similar in ability to Tam Elbrum from the TNG episode 'Tin Man'. Tam could read everything all the time, Curtanis' ability is limited to those he can see and only their front most thoughts. Still an awkward person to be around. In a way (though I may change this, it could be seen as the inverse of someone with Tourette's or people who act without restraint).
These two species are usually very agreeable in the world of Star Trek, I want to mold both representatives of those species into something different. for varieties' sake. It would also be easier to write dialogue. Though of course we got a very aggressive Betazoid in the TNG episode 'The Drumhead'.
Once this episode has gone through my stunt writer friend who is usually just as nerdy (he's seen the first 3 chapters), I will start to podcast it and give it to you early. Again, this will be a public release in January 2022 because I want to work out any kinks I find after producing it. I don't want to keep returning to episodes to re-edit them. In a way you're my guinea pigs! But it doesn't mean the quality is intended to be any different to what you already enjoy.
- With regard to the VFX artist, I've agreed to pay him 200 British pounds and he'll begin work on visualising the first scene from 'Caretaken' as a test. I still need other artists to draw the characters to fit inside those scenes. I'll share previews when I can.
- I've already started writing episode 5 tentatively titled, 'Paris-dise'. It will focus on the Paris family as much as possible but to break it up, include a scene from Icheb's story or Tuvok's.
