It was actually the opposite. Bill Murray happened to be on the WB lot when they were filming and when he heard that Michael Jordan was there he basically showed up and forced himself into the movie cause he was a huge Basketball fan. WB didn't really know what to do but he did it for very cheap so they put him in.
