the talk about Kaiju no 8 made me think about how often humor really helps sell a shonan manga to me in the early stages of a story. When ever I'm thinking about writing things I always try and keep in mind that its much easier to start off sort of silly and move more serious then it is to start serious and just start having a bunch of jokes. Which is sorta why I think that the first arc of Bleach works as good as it does even though its like 20 chapters too long lol.
