I also really like the which came first but I never get to play it for long because I get distracted by the articles. I also really love the random article option! Even when they are random tiny townships it feels delightful seeing something most people won't ever see For the YT rec thing, I've tried a few things personally for the YTers I watch, but the best has been using the "notification bell" on their channel pages. I definitely don't have actual app notifications on as that would drive me crazy, but when I open youtube I get a nice "notification list" of all the videos that might not get recommended. I'm worried posting here might spam the patreon notifications because everyone effectively has to have those on

2026-02-14 16:50:23 +0000 UTCI like that wikipedia shows a little bit of personality on the frontpage. I've been playing the "Which came first" minigame on their app (poorly), which is just neat as well. By the way, I've noticed you don't share new youtube videos on this page. Youtube isn't the best at recommending videos from channel subscriptions, in my experience at least. Maybe it could help with early engagement metrics?

2026-02-12 23:01:06 +0000 UTCI'm sure someone does, I just wonder if *she* knows... She could just go on about her life so blissfully ignorant of her greatest accomplishment... Being featured 16+ times on the FRONT PAGE of Wikipedia... *sigh

2026-02-12 22:48:21 +0000 UTCThere are a lot of dedicated Wikipedia editors out there, but it's still a finite number. So sometimes the tastes and/or politics of a fairly small number of editors can skew the balance of portions of Wikipedia. In other words, sometimes it's all about that fan base. (Badum-tish.)

2026-02-12 20:18:59 +0000 UTCThe hardest bias Iβve had to fight as a Wikipedian is the limitations of my own interests. After writing hundreds of articles there, I realized Iβd created an accidental lopsidedness on a particular topic. Forcing myself to research and hunt for subjects outside my bailiwick causes me headaches to this day, but Iβm sure Iβm better for it. Thus, it would come as no shock to me if we learned that some volunteer on the featured articles team just really loves Meghan Trainor. π

2026-02-12 14:29:25 +0000 UTCThanks for sharing! I think your Narwhal video was the first of yours I came across and I do enjoy these under the hood so to speak looks at Wikipedia. Completely agree, that while itβs not without its flaws, Wikipedia might be one of the best places on the internet and has been pretty resilient as far as the general slopification of the web is concerned.

2026-02-12 07:42:07 +0000 UTCI mean on the one hand if you're an artist long enough your art will evolve with you and I really like how identities can change. But I think TS is too... popular? Like her songs feel like they capture some perfect average of taste but come across to me as bland. She's definitely not the only artist I feel this way about, but she's definitely the most lauded by others. Maybe she's just very good at capturing some aspect of being I personally don't relate to. Speaking of popular, now that I think of it WHERE IS KATY PERRY?? Why is she not on this list? Not featured once...?!

2026-02-12 06:41:56 +0000 UTCI completely agree with Taylor Swift's music not really having a distinct identity, but I've never had anyone really agree with me on that
