You're not getting billed this month!

Look, there's not a lot to say! I didn't make a video this month! I only made ONE last month. I'm not letting you pay me for that! What kind of message does that send? That I can just NOT make videos and paid? Phooey! To heck with that I say!!

I could have asked if you'd let me get away with that, but I know you, I know you my beloved patrons, you'd let me. You'd say it's fine, and coddle me like onto a weak little baby! Well I'm not a baby! I'm a toddler at least!! I don't intend to take your support for granted, and so I gotta face up to my boners sometimes.

I've been ass deep in a video for my other channel, and it has taken up all of my time. I didn't feel right about the situation, so this is what I'm gonna do! That's integrity!

What a hero I am, a content hero!!

But do you think I'm letting myself off the hook that easy? FUCK NO.
The next video I'm working on is about the criminally underrated, and criminally over-requested 1994 Italian zombie fairy tale Dellamorte Dellamore, or Cemetery Man if you're nasty. After that we're gonna have a poll where you can vote on the next SERIES for me to cover. I like doing series retrospectives because it eliminates the choice paralysis of what movie to cover. SO THAT'S CONTENT BAYBEEEEEEE!!!!

PS: I've never done an AMA on Scaredy Cats, so what the hell? Why not? Let's do that! Gimme your Scaredy Q to get some Scaredy As! Patrons will get top priority!

PPS: I love you

The frequency with which I find myself wondering what your thoughts/feelings are about Junk Head - the 2021 Japanese stop motion movie by Takehide Hori - means that I absolutely *must* now ask: have you seen and enjoyed Junk Head, the 2021 Japanese stop motion movie by Takehide Hori? I am particularly a fan of its charming collection of grotesqueries, and the fact that it is entirely performed in gibberish that is nonetheless (cadence-wise) identifiably *Japanese* gibberish. The original 2017 short was ALL HORI ALL THE TIME, but for the full 1hr40 version, he had help. The YT upload I grabbed it from has been taken down, but it's on Hoopla and I'm assuming that's the Eng Sub version: https://www.hoopladigital.com/title/15793438

Ro the Lion

Wait shit was stage fright the goblin? This is now my patron question would you look something up for me rq

Andrew Hill

Oh, God I love series retrospectives. Question: Dario Argento? Did you watch Contamination?? The rifftrax guys did it and it blew my mind how good the soundtrack was. The Goblin lmfao ❀️☠️🫑

Andrew Hill

Question: Whom (or what) is your favorite classic movie monster, and why? Further Question: Is Scaredy Cats open to receiving fan art and, if so, what is the preferred method for submitting it? Nothing worrisome, I promise.

Hyla Tracy

Question: If you died suddenly, what sort of ghost, ghoul, revenant or other spookyboy would you like to come back as (possibly for revenge?)

karpad

Take care of yourself, and we understand that art takes time! That said, my Q&A? What's your favorite 2020s horror film you've seen? The Baby Oopsie series cannot count, because who can compete with perfection?

Denise D

Also this is not a question, exactly, but I've recently noticed that I support multiple people on Patreon whose main thing is talking about horror, even though I personally can't stand watching horror. I don't know if that's weird, per se - horror is really interesting when someone explains it to me and I don't have to watch it myself. Maybe my question is, what do people like yourself who ACTUALLY like to WATCH the horror get out of it? (Obviously I'm glad you get something since otherwise I wouldn't get horror analysis videos.) I feel like this is like spicy stuff where I fully believe that people actually do derive enjoyment from eating capsaicin, but to me it just tastes like pain, and pain is not a taste I personally enjoy. Are people who like it tasting something different from what I'm tasting? Do they taste the same thing but just enjoy pain? It is a mystery.

Hey, this is totally going around. I'm literally cutting and pasting this from another post right above this in my Patreon feed: "I've noticed that a lot of my favorite creators have started posting less and less in the last year or so. I feel like there was a big wave of people taking off during the pandemic, and then they all got patreons and set up regular schedules and quit their day jobs and immediately started burning out. This makes me sad. It's why I'm generally willing to give a creator a lot of leeway to disappear for a while and still keep getting my patreon dollars. I generally sign up to a patreon because I like what a person IS doing at whatever rate they're doing it [or even because I got a lot of pleasure from going through their back catalog and want to pay them back for that], not because I want them to change to doing a bunch of weekly posts or whatever." One of the things I like about Patreon is that it's NOT a day job and we're NOT your supervisors. By which I mean, in a day job, you produce consistently or you get fired. And that's not necessarily bad. If you agreed to do a certain thing in exchange for a certain amount of resources, it's reasonable to expect you to do the thing or stop receiving the resources (barring exigent circumstances of some kind). In a lot of contexts, the world really needs reliability. But I feel like the game for creators is a bit different. Creativity sometimes goes through peaks and lulls. Personally I like that Patreon provides a regular stream of income for irregular producers. I view it less like a job and more as literal patronage - I like the work you've already done enough that I just want to support your existence and ability to continue to produce in the future, without necessarily expecting that production to be any more rigidly scheduled than it was when I signed up. I know sometimes it's motivating to feel accountability, so if that's the case here, know that we do miss it when you don't post, because we enjoy your posts. And like, yeah, if it were starting to be many months between every video, I would start to feel like maybe you were moving on to doing something else with your life and I might consider whether it made sense to keep subscribing. But you have, at this point, a solid track record of creating videos. I feel like you've earned a bit of grace and the assumption that if you go quiet for a bit, it's because you've hit a lull or have life stuff going on or whatever, not because you're a lazy bum. So I also hope you won't feel like you have to push it to the point of burnout. I for one am happy to occasionally have a month where I pay you to just NOT burn out, y'know? :)

Does Bobby ever talk about me?

Jesse

also what did you think of Abigail?

Alex Carter

since you are a fellow FK stan ... what's your favorite vampire movie that is """scary"""

Alex Carter

What is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you? Alternatively, what is the most recent piece of media you've consumed that managed to frighten you?

Miriam

Would you ever be into us recommending obscure horror subgenres to check out? For example, for some reason, Cat-based horror films, Chinese hopping vampires, most Italian giallos, etc... are consistently and inexplicably bangers.

Josh Moniz

Q: Which horror movie/media did you watch that made you realise you were into the genre?

Daniel

I've sometimes heard it said there's something conservative about horror, because of the kind of defensive posture it encourages (intentionally or otherwise): the world *is* scary, horror often seems to say, and your community *is* threatened by strangers and deviants/deviance. In many of your interpretations, though, you see more progressive attitudes. Personally I suspect there are attributes of the horror genre that push it in a conservative direction, which more progressive horror authors/directors need to (but certainly can) overcome. You have a lot more experience with horror than I have, so I wonder what you think? Does horror tend to the conservative? If so, why -- and why are there exceptions? If not, why might people sometimes think so? (Apologies for the question that contains several comments. I won't feel bad if you disregard it.)

Christian Hendriks

Question: Have you seen Bliss (2019) from director Joe Begos and would you agree that it fucking rips?

Tino Galizio

Aw man, this totally ruins the vibe of our one-sided parasocial findom relationship! :( If you're taking questions, uh, I dunno, favorite food? I know you're a vegan. I'm a vegetarian and have toyed with going vegan but it's so hard to eat out as it is. Any advice on that?

Medenmath

But if you don't take my money, how will I know if I'm still the star of the channel?! Series-wise... nbc's HANNIBAL. That series was the best. Yes, it would've been even better if Lacrioux had been in, but I think we can all agree that all shows would be improved if they had that guy

Luisa Prieto

What film would be most improved by replacing the protagonist with Nick Knight?

Des and Hil Richards-Campbell

Question: What's your favorite Canadian horror movie?

James Rule

That’s it. I’m gonna throw money directly at your integrity. Wham. Right in the head. How. Dare. You.

ramenbrownie

You take my money and you take it now! Q. Rights holder comes to you and says, "We want to hear how you'd reboot Elm Street/Freddy" what's your pitch?

Trevor Collins

Woooohooo, that's one of my favourite movies ever. the scene with the fire reflection? Pure masterpiece.
