With all due respect... training and indoctrination are exactly the things made to PREVENT such a breakdown. "after what they went through" - Ha-ha nice one! Have you forgot "everything they did"? Kinda controversial.

Soldiers in the real world do after trauma, so it makes perfect sense here. And the difference in atmosphere or attitude is actually pretty common, they may keep up a facade in their day to day life, but they let it drop while in therapy.
