I think the weight thing should be handled like this: After Fel broke up with him, he went into a depression and gained a lot of weight during his stay in America. He also came to appreciate thiccer girls there (excuse for cameo of Ollie and Mary in bikinis or booty shorts). While he was fat his love life was nonexistant but he came to realize that it wasn't his weight holding him back, it was his mopey attitude he had from Fel breaking his heart.

Aldo would then point out that he went to study abroad to America, where he learned how different and biased the japanese standard of beauty is compared to the rest of the world, and learned to appreciate "Thiccu" girls just as well. ...I just really wanna draw dorito-faced Al hanging out with obama in an american looking college, with tanks and bald eagles in the back, blasting some phat booty.

Mugger is stuck in a loop of negative thoughts like: "I ate nothing but salad all week to fit into these clothes but Al hasn't noticed... maybe I'm just not pretty." The date goes badly. Mugger barely said a thing and Al seemed bored thinking of other things. They part ways for the night and Mugger thinks to herself "why are guys always disappointed in me?" Mugger gives up. But don't worry because the page after this is when things start looking better for her chances with Al.
