Melee, parrying, doors, and more!

Hey folks!

I wanted to change up the format of my posts a bit. I want to try embedding some inline gifs... let's see how that works.

Bam! Ok so first off, these blue guys attack just in front of them! The first enemies that don't shoot bullets at all. So far the game has been about reflecting bullets, but what do you do when you have no bullets?

You parry! I added a block to Lion's abilities and if you block at the right moment (right before the attack) They will automatically get into a stunned state, ready to be launched airborne! You can see me failing a few times, but it's actually a pretty generous parry window (12 frames)

Hmm there's that pink door you can't pass thru...?

Oh it looked like it opened once I defeated that guy! Time to clean up the rest of 'em!

Yes! Doors! Now I have a way to gate the player based on certain conditions. I wrote it so it's pretty flexible, anything can knock on a door, and when a door has all the knocks it needs, it opens! I can tie it to clearing out enemies, or hitting a switch, or completing a puzzle.

All really fun stuff to put together. I'm working on putting together all the ingredients I need for my first level.
