Weekly Report #030

Okay, I am really, really bad at doing reports on Sunday. The mornings tend to be way too busy, and by evening I've got a hundred other things on my mind. Maybe I can try Saturday evenings instead? Or would Monday morning be better? Gonna have to mull that over.

Anyway, I'd grade last week as 'mediocre' on the whole. I lost a day or two to family matters (that's gonna be a theme for awhile. Mostly the next two weeks and then the tail end of December, I think. Hence why November and December are being rolled into one mega-month.) but was still able to get a decent amount accomplished. All of the pending edits in the Artemis story were completed (They came out the other end just shy of 5K words) and I managed about 2K in fresh writing split between Artemis and the Locker Room story (which is looking increasingly like it's going to fall into that weird middle ground between a short and a full story.)

For the Artemis Story, I'd estimate I've got something like 3K of writing/5K of revisions to go. Normally that'd be about a week's work but between how stubborn that last scene is proving and the distraction of holiday/family stuff I'm not confident I'll have it out next weekend. I'll be trying, but realistically I think it's two off unless I hit a sudden burst of inspiration.

As to the locker room short, I'd estimate there's a few thousand words to write and I haven't started revisions yet. Once the time comes, I mean to try out a new method for revisions which will lead to one of two results. Either the time required gets cut down dramatically with a minimal dropoff in quality and I become very happy, or I wind up entirely unsatisfied with the result and make myself start again. (This is why I want to try a shorter story first.)

Regardless, for the time being, Artemis is my priority. I can see the finish line, and I want to get there as fast as possible without compromising the quality of the climactic scene. Once I do manage to wrap it up, I'll assess where I'm at and decide my next steps. Until then, it's nose to the grindstone time.

Whichever day works best for you for the weekly reports is fine with me.
