Episode 69: Brian "Head" Welch Articles

The articles this month, my goodness, they are a doozy. There is SO much to glean here, Bryan and I did a ton on the show and still didn't even get to the half of it. Enjoy.

Beliefnet: "From Korn To Christ" (c. 2007)

No date on this one but given Head's album isn't even out yet, it's probably one of the earliest interviews he gave on the subject of God and leaving Korn. Lots of insight about leaving, how Korn feels, and Stephen Baldwin.

Phoenix New Times: "Former Korn Guitarist Brian Welch Finds Jesus" (June 19, 2008)

Simply put, it's one of the best articles we've ever read on the show. If you only read one of the Head articles, make it this one. It's a longform piece that goes VERY deep and has tons of stuff about Head's baptism, bringing his daughter on the road, and PF Chang's. Well worth a read.

Ultimate Guitar: "Brian 'Head' Welch: 'Life is About Drugs and Mistakes'" (2011)

I think life is about more than that, but with a bit of perspective, Head digs into the recording process of "Save Me From Myself", his contact with Korn after, and answers a bunch of questions about his time in the band.

Christian Broadcasting Network: "Brian 'Head' Welch on Living Life With 'Eyes Wide Open'" (2016)

Head has written a third book and discusses that here, as well as the Lord bringing him back to Korn.

Rolling Stone: "Korn's Brian 'Head' Welch Offers Advice For Parenting Troubled Teens" (May 19, 2016)

We didn't discuss this a ton on the show, but a weird article that focuses mainly on Head's daughter's mental health struggles as a way of promoting Head's third book.

Blabbermouth: "Korn's Brian 'Head' Welch Clarifies Some of His Comments About Christianity: 'Some of the Choices I Made Were Reminiscent of a True Fanatic'" (March 19, 2021)

Well, we all have regrets. And seriously, Blabbermouth has to stop with the Fall Out Boy song title-length headlines.
