Y'All Want a Single #112: "Time 2 Shine" by E-Town Concrete

Thanks to Shane, we are covering the boys from E-Town for the first time on the show, as we dive into this song that is almost purely hardcore. Having heard from some other listeners that they eventually turn a bit more towards rap-metal, we listen to those songs to, and this might shock you....we like those more.

Libby Watson (What's All This, Then?) returns to the show and thanks to Barksdale, we are covering something that is barely nu-metal (or maybe not nu-metal at all), a collection of songs by everyone's favorite depressed trap-rappers, $UICIDEBOY$. Y'All Want a Single #111: "Holy Man" by One Minute Silence

Thanks to Tom, we are hopping across the pond to cover Irish nu-metal band One Minute Silence, a band who hit it big as one of the UK's leaders in nu-metal, but never made much of an impact stateside. It's "deep guy month" here on the POD Kast as "Yap", the lead singer of OMS, has some pretty deep ideas about how the world works, man. This band definitely listened to a lot of Rage Against the Machine and a lot of Tool, and the song turns out pretty good despite all of that.

Y'All Want a Single #110: "System" by Jonathan Davis

Sarah won the POD Kast Lotto, and decided that we should go back and review the Jonathan Davis version of the Queen of the Damned soundtrack song, "System". As you may recall, we did review that OST WAAAAY back on BONUS Kast #8, and we covered the versions of these songs done by other artists, due to JD's contractual issues with Sony. Well, now we are taking a peek at the J-Devil version and revisiting all that sweet, sweet, QOTD lore. It's a fun one!

Y'All Want a Single #107: "The Truth" by Limp Bizkit

Thanks to Matt, we take a look at the last Limp Bizkit era we never really touched on: The Unquestionable Truth era. Technically Part 1 of said era, though we eagerly await Part 2. It was a weird time to be LB, as Wes Borland returned to the band and they promptly decided they wanted to be more like Rage Against the Machine. And that isn't us just guessing: Fred literally says it out loud, in interviews. Turns out Wes is pretty good at writing RATM riffs too, as this song does kinda go.

Y'All Want a Single #106: "High" by Jimmie's Chicken Shack

Thanks to Chris, we take a look at song that Bryan is VERY familiar with by virtue of being a teenager in the Midwest in the mid-90s and John has never heard before by virtue of being a Canadian who was 12 years old when it came out. Perhaps that contributes to their respective enjoyment of the song, as Bryan doesn't like it but it hits John in the right spot. We also examine the intelligence behind having a joke-y band name and album titles and what effect that has on a band.

B.O.N.U.S. Kast #68: "I Let It In and It Took Everything" by Loathe w/ Ryan Schaap

Thanks to Nat, Ryan Schaap (Hardest Podcast to Podcast) joins us to discuss one of the best new nu-metal offerings we have, the great "I Let It In..." by Loathe. We get into how being shaped by Deftones and early Slipknot probably makes for a great formula, why stuff like this is getting popular now, and since Ryan hosts a White Stripes podcast, we also talk a lot about the nu-metal-to-indie-rock pipeline.

Thanks to Jean, we are taking a look at yet another weird Swedish nu-metal guy, the frontman for the band Psycore, who are making strange, electronica-adjacent nu-metal (at least on this track). Not sure what it was with these Swedes at the time making this music, but they're all weirdos, and this is another one. And the song is fine.
