Listening to new mixes, a 2nd song is scheduled for release!

shown above: words on a book I photographed to create the next single's cover artwork.

I spent today doing a few different things, including chatting with Distrokid support about the pre-orders for Apple and Amazon (they said we can expect these to happen in a few days), cropping and sewing one of my sweaters, submitting another song for release, and listening with Wyatt to new mixes and writing mix notes together.

The 2nd single is one I'm really proud of - it's a huge and intense song about revenge and the passing on of trauma, and one of my personal favorites on The Grand Scream. I felt that I got to express anger in a way that is fun to me, especially in the vocal booth.

I designed and assembled the single cover art through photography and using a series of free apps, as usual. I specifically photographed a device I found at a flea market for the cover that fits the topic of the song perfectly, and some fabric I picked up from an arts & crafts thrift store.

I just got home from Wyatt's house, where we both listened to the new mixes and discussed the things we wanted to revise about them. "Backing vocals up + blend with main vocal at 3:20", "bring drum roll up", "after first pre-chorus and chorus, bring bass down and piano up", "no synth till 2nd verse". These are all notes that Wyatt and I wrote for Doug during our meeting. We resolved to not have any more than 2 revisions made of each song. While I'm stil developing my mixing ear, I was able to pick up on things about the songs that Wyatt and I agreed on and both wanted to change.

I also cropped and sewed a knit sweater today! I'm finding sewing to be fun and challenging and would like to do more of it in the future.
