The making of the Akathisia single cover!!
Added 2025-12-24 05:12:55 +0000 UTCI decided to create a photo/digital collage for this single, just as I have done for past singles as well as the Surgery album cover!
The first thing I thought about were the aesthetics of the song and how that might translate into a design and color scheme. I chose the color red as the main color because I view the song as being very bright and passionate. Red was also my favorite color as a child, and is still one of my favorites now.
I took a picture of a vintage Valentine's heart chocolate box I bought from ebay specifically to use as a prop to promote this single and create single artwork. I think that the heart box is a great visual translation of the line "But I'm trying to give you my heart" which is sung towards the end of the song.
The background of the single artwork, behind the heart, is a close-up photo of a needle-felted heart that is part of a garland in my room. I thought it would add texture to the art and reinforce the red theme.
The letters are cut out from various Christmas catalogs. I arranged these on my scanner, cut them out with a digital editing tool, and carefully arranged them around the curvature of the heart-shaped candy box.
