Added 2025-02-21 01:45:15 +0000 UTCWe picked up an Alteon AceDirector2 load balancer several months ago with an interest in getting it working, and without knowing all that much about Alteon's history.
One of Alteon's founders, John Hayes, happened to get in touch with us, and we were blown away by his stories of the company: how they pioneered gigabit ethernet, and how they sort of stumbled upon layer 4 load balancing. That made us even more motivated to get the AD2 working, and to try to tell their whole story.
