Restoring a PC's Limited 286
Added 2024-02-04 03:41:26 +0000 UTCWe recently bought a PC's Limited 286 computer. PC's Limited was the brand name of Michael Dell's computer company before he went all-in with the Dell name.
We've completed a full hardware restoration, which will be going public soon on our new "side channel" on Youtube. We created a 2nd channel called The Parallel Port for posting long and raw content that won't be going on The Serial Port Youtube channel
We're working on the video about this computer for our main channel.. currently planning to dial in to a BBS or two. We're open to more ideas on what we should do with this 286!

Before watching the episode: Windows 3.1 in Real Mode Norton Utilities and NDOS NCSA TCP/IP utilities for DOS. (FTP and Telnet mostly, requires a packet driver TSR, but those existed for SLIP or PPP) BBS and terminal software! (And Spinrite that MFM HDD ASAP!) Trying to remember what else I did with my old 286-12 with 1 MB RAM: Games: wolf3d with a tiny viewport, or Civ 1.
