2026-01-24 09:54:55 +0000 UTCJust joined, so I'm late and you probably have moved on from this comment section, but just want to say Shane's "macrobiotic diet" is totally unrealistic for a pro level hockey player. They have to eat like 3000-4000 calories a day just to maintain their weight and muscle mass and to have enough energy, and if you tried to do that on a diet of mostly vegetables, you'd spend half the day in the bathroom. It's too much volume. Now, obviously, they can't just eat junk either, but the typical hockey diet is going to have a lot of lean animal protein, protein from other sources (eggs, beans, some dairy), and yes, carbs. Carbs are super important especially before games because they give so much energy. Obviously whole grains are better, but yes hockey players are eating rice, pasta, fruit, starchy vegetables, etc. to get those carbs in. So yeah Shane's diet would be neither typical nor optimal. They kind of make it seem like it works fine in the show, but it wouldn't lol. I wonder if he has an eating disorder masquerading as a diet.
