At least we know Carol has enough spanish to curse effectively! I think with the help of a phrasebook or something they’ll manage.
I’m also dreading Manusos’s disappointment in Carol. I think she’s going to have to choose between him and the hive - I can’t imagine he’d tolerate her requesting hugs and ice-cold gatorade from the enemy.

The hive mind tells Manusos to put his hand up to the sky if he does want help. When he collapses, is he reaching up for help or is he looking at the sky and shading his eyes from the sun? Honestly, I think you could see this either way.

Mary, you touched on several of my observations as well. 1. Zosia's very slight belly that could be posture or something more. 😬 2. The painting does seem to suggest symbolism and/or potential foreshadowing. 3. Fascinating theory about them manipulating Carol. I actually wondered if she's got a plan for them/Zosia (the painting made me think this). I mean, Carol is a writer AND she's a writer that's been aching to kill off her main character (see white board in earlier eps), so . . . 4. I love Manusos, too. Really compelled by your comments about his passionate words and connection to colonization. So apt for a show where the hive mind is doing exactly that. 5. I also have some not fully formed inkling that they aren't where we think they are -- think Truman Show, but I don't think it's that exactly. I simply think there's a huge misdirect being shown to us that we have not yet seen. Just a theory.

To begin, I apologize for the lengthy commentary; my mind has been racing with thoughts about this series. I've had to jot down my reflections in my own notebook (which I’ve titled "Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena of the Kinsey Scale Notebook" 🙃 ), because… wow.. overload, overthinking!.
- I’m still intrigued by why these Catholic symbols always are "following" the Manusos's character. In any case, I think they could lead to a dynamic that makes them opposites (I mean, Carol and him), even though we all desperately want them to get along as allies and "save the world".
- About my accent theory? I was completely wrong and totally overthinking it. I initially thought it was intentional, but it wasn't. Manusos has a Colombian accent, the man who offered him water has a Caribbean accent, and the guy who speaks during the the gap scene is Mexican. 🤦🏻♀️ SO WRONG. But it begs the question, if we all are us, when we are speaking the same language shouldn't we all be speaking with the same accent? 🤨 🤣
- We’ve all heard Carol say something along the lines of, "So all the lawyers in the world survived,” and you pointed out that they have the best chefs because they have the knowledge of all the best chefs… but they also have the knowledge of all the best psychologists, therapists, and mind “tricksters” lets say, as well. Perhaps not with malicious intent, but what if, under the Hive imperative of “saving” the uninfected and the principle of "you’ll be happy and satisfied once you are one of us," that technically means they can do whatever is necessary within those parameters, looking out for loopholes to achieve their ultimate goal? Isn't the Hive able to case study her, understand her better than anyone, and put her in a situation where she has little choice but to comply with the joining? Because that would be the extreme conflict, where she is taken to a point of desperation and complies of her own free will—her ultimate nightmare. Just food for thought.
- Your Rorschach test came back just fine! :) O’Keeffe is known for exploring the reproductive parts of flowers, creating passionate metaphors for truly earthy illustrations. Yes, some of her paintings focus on flowers blooming, depicted as folds resembling female reproductive organs. So test 100% fine 🙂. (There’s more to the painting—just look up its name.)
- I don’t want to body shame Sozia at all (that’s definitely not my intention), but maybe she's just having a bloating day or has been drinking milk a lot. However, that side shot of her walking towards Karen did suggest a little bump. Maybe she’s not pregnant yet, but is that a red herring or foreshadowing? 🤔
Lastly, I may be in love with the character of Manusos, and that’s why I’m concerned for him. Is his fate to be the martyr? The true “revolutionary saint”? The one on the cross… dying with conviction. 😭 His speech resonates with the rage of those who have been colonized, whose lands have been stolen. His words could have been spoken almost verbatim 500+ years ago by one of his ancestors, with the same passion and determination.
Just anecdotal: I’m not a car person either, but I remember my dad used to have this old-timey Mercedes, and he had the hood emblem stolen many times. Maybe that’s why the RR has that hidden mechanism? 🤷🏻♀️
Okay, I’ll stop the crazy yapping now!!!

Oh man, what an episode.
I'm having high hopes for Manousos, but at the same time, I'm really anxious about him and Carol meeting up and her not living up to his expectations and his sacrifice getting here. Though they are on the same page on paper, I'm fearing he will be disappointed in how she (and the others *cough cough* Diabaté) chose to play her cards. Then again, I have no idea where Monsieur Gilligan will take us next and I'm here for every second of it
Edit: A more obvious concern would be the language barrier of course. We've seen Manousos take on the challenge of bridging The Gap (now in more ways than one), but Carol doesnt seem like she would meet him halfway and brush up her language skills [I'm also reminded of the scene in "Grenade" where she shows disregard for how you toast in Hindi(?)]. Maybe she is warming up to the idea of an interpreter but I dont know how well that would go over with our Paraguayan best boi™. I'm not hoping for a shitty romance B-plot and I know the showrunners are too good for that anyways, but I want these two to bond idk.
