Talamasca: The Secret Order - Ep.1X2 "A Wilderness of Mirrors" UNCUT & UNCENSORED

Ok.... is it anywhere NEAR the quality of "Interview with the Vampire" ? I'm starting to think.... no, probably not. HOWEVER, is this episode an incredibly silly and entertaining episode of television? ...... yes lol

I lowkey hope the rest of the show is like this, because this was so much fun XD

Your offhand commentary is hilarious. "Oh, she looks tired", poor stripper lady. Alongside the random generic London accent snippets. I'm waiting for woa'ah to come out of the woodwork at any moment. The random poor spy work in this show is shocking, the book codes, bad tracking and following - I think someone else below already said we're here to watch Guy continue to be rubbish at his job!

"JJ Abrams get your hands out of the stew" sent me over the edge, thank you

Typically with heavily redacted files, the original unredacted file does exist in their archives. Only the redacted copy exists for certain levels of public or semi-public access, and has to be included as a demonstration of the existence of the file and that the information exists. Only certain parts of it cannot be shared for some overwhelming public necessity like public safety or the privacy of the person or persons mentioned in the file, or their connection to something secret. And you can hear with a sound effect in the background when Guy is trying to listen to someone's thoughts - it just doesn't always work lol. I think for the genre this is supposed to be (spy thriller) which is already very tropey, it's doing a pretty fun job. In comparison to the Gothic horror drama of IWTV and the Paranormal drama of Mayfair, it's just a much different tone to hit in the universe.

To clarify: I love Ted Lasso and Severence!! I just used them as examples of the other shows that are popular right now that aren't IWTV, bc genuinely IWTV feels like it's on another level. Ted Lasso is like. ALMOST on par, imo, but in a totally different genre with different messages (that show is therapy). Basically, Talamasca isn't on par with the other Good Shows right now, you know? The sexist cop immediately fucking winded me. What the hell. I love that the first black woman introduced died, then we learned she was stealing, then another black woman comes along as a hypersexualized figure immediately. Not hitting the social awareness of any modern show, either. Also, I think the actors are struggling to say anything of value during the behind the scenes because the direction is too shallow. Jason Schwartzman mentioned in the ep 1 ending that the director would show them exactly what he wanted them to do - that's NOT good direction. That's how you take the interest and wind out of your actors' sails. That's how you get good actors giving shallow, weak performances. I'll also say I noticed I complained less about ep 3 (which I still didn't love) and suspected the director was the same for eps 1 & 2 and different for 3 - that suspicion was correct. The lead showrunner who directed those eps is John Lee Hancock, known for The Blindside, The Alamo, and Snow White and the Huntsman - all of that made sense with all of the complaints I've had so far. The other showrunner directed a ton of Jimmy Kimmel sections, which made the lack of any interesting color grading make sense. Also, if you love The Room, PLEASE watch Queen of the Damned. It's that kind of bad to me. A fun kind of bad.

I hope he remains the world’s dumbest little baby spy forever.

You wanted to know why an organization would keep a heavily redacted file. Mostly, it’s to demonstrate that the file exists and the information is known (and available if you have proper access). It’s not a mistake or a lost file or a coverup. There’s a big difference between “we don’t know the answer to that question” and “we can’t tell you the answer for security reasons”. Redacted means get a security clearance and demonstrate a need to know and we can tell you.

I’m glad nobody was around to hear me excitedly yell “BEES!” when I saw that scene 😅

If you like the 20's and 30's... Boardwalk Empire is the show for you. Same people who made The Sopranos. Not quite as good. But still a very good show. The set work and costume design is CRAZY good. On the episode.. You already know how I feel. I've decided to not watch anymore on my own lol. But I will watch it along with you. I know the newest episode is already out but I will hold off.. How ever can I resist the urge. . . Watch Kevis has a sister or something.. He runs into her and she's like "Relaxxxx Guy".. and he's like wtf.. Turns out.. DUN DUN DUN.. she has a twin sister.

Btw: The bees are an Easter egg from the books ;)

You said it right, this show is adorable lmao. I thought I'd be bored but this shit cracks me up, the first two episodes could have easily been condensed into one if they just cut down on all the filler stuff but this is still so much fun. Here's to hoping we get four more episodes of Guy absolutely sucking at his job while we remain confused on how his powers actually work and comically dramatic music plays in the background!

Angry green can correct me if I'm wrong but I think they meant Other Half when they said OH

Sam

I love how much you hate it xDDDD great shirt also

Oliver

Hell yeah!! I didn't think the show is going to be as good as IWTV, but I find myself unable to think about anything else since I watched these couple episodes LOL
