The White Lotus - Ep.3X8 "Amor Fati" UNCUT & UNCENSORED

And with that, our stay in Thailand has officially come to a close...

I've been going back and forth between Seasons 2 & 3 and am struggling to divine my favorite. I think the "relationship" elements of S2 are more interesting overall, though I find myself gravitating more towards S3's overall themes of "spirituality" and "life/death" etc. Perhaps I'm just a morbid 'lil MovieMan, ya know?

I think I also really liked the musical score in S3 more, in addition to the setting and cinematography. Granted, that could just be my preference of green over yellow lol

I understand other's reservation regarding this season, and perhaps there are some... "slower" moments this time around. I still wish there was a deeper focus on the "hospitality" angle, (similar to how S1 handled the actual staff) I don't tink Fabian had even five minutes of screen time, and he's the damn Manager XD But, I understand why the focus of the show has leaned more and more toward's the new guests every season, as they are the ones that truly seem to add the most variety and diversity each time.

I may not "love" this show, but I certainly enjoy the drama and theatrics. Looking forward to Season 4 in a couple years, sounds like we will be going to Paris so my fellow IWTV fans may have something to look forward to...

Chelsea deserved better…although she was full of postmodern crap…I liked this season better upon rewatch

For me it was so obvious it was his father.

Also. My favorite part is the 3 mature friends, i guess I identified…and your criticism kind of hurts. I guess you don’t get that you can be a bitch and appreciative at the same time. It is healthy because is sincere…it’s real. There is nothing wrong with wanting a simple life. And yes that is the nature of relationships. Is very grounded. Hearing you talk at the end I think you get it. There is something special about long time friendships

Agitprop

Hedonistic desires? Victoria’s consumism. How many shirts do you have?

Agitprop

I guess It’s strange how different generations react to characters so differently

Agitprop

Also didn’t appreciate your observation of Victoria when she was praying so her daughter doesn’t stay, and you find that to be the worst…but if you think seriously about it is so reasonable. If you had a daughter you would like her to be close to you, and she is not forcing her she is just wishing that she changed her mind and that she finds happiness (of course) but somewhere physically and spiritually closer to her. What is wrong about that? And is THAT what you find selfish and laughed at Ricky an all his stupid trauma!! Ok

Agitprop

I wanted to comment how much you criticize characters like Cameron or Saxon…all this chads or alpha males but never bother to criticize someone like Rick that is the most selfish character in the whole series. He pushed is friend into go back to self destruction and you find it hilarious. Anyway is funny. Then you find Shane to be the worst. Again product of your generation. Good thing about it, it cures with age.

Agitprop

Of course you have cronic anxiety it comes with your generation.

I don't think it will happen, but man would I love S4 to take place at a ski resort. But Mike White not liking the cold is probably a dealbreaker there lol

yay! thank you for dropping this so quick 🤩 i’m going to watch it on the weekend. i love this show a lot and each season i love for different reasons but this season stayed with me a bit more i think and i felt more connected to the characters in particular rick and chelsea’s story 😞 i just think it was all done and written so brilliantly and i personally love the slow burn mike white is famous for, because it gives you time with these characters, they feel very authentic, you grow to learn all their little characteristics no matter how subtle, so when something happens to them no matter how big or small you can feel it that much more… in my little opinion

One thing which you may or may not have noticed is that Piper throughout the season has been wearing very simple, almost Amish-esque dresses, and in this episode after she realizes how spoiled she really is, she starts wearing fancier, more colorful outfits, which are strikingly similar in style to how her mother dresses. A lot of the initial negative responses that I observed were knee-jerk reactions to the fact that Chelsea died, and Greg (Gary) survived another season unscathed. Some people viewed the 'dirty blender' situation as lazy plot convenience, and I personally know a lot of Blackpink fans who were upset that Lisa's role in the season wasn't more significant. Speaking of, there is also some criticism of the character Gaitok whose only purpose in this entire season seemed to just be to kill Rick at the end. Some people thought the plot twists, like Jim being Rick's real father or Valentin being involved in the robbery, were too predictable-- although to be honest, like you, I didn't realize them at first. For me, I honestly don't have many legitimate criticisms of this season. I wish Christian Friedel (Fabian's actor) could've had more than 10 seconds under the spotlight to sing (he is a German singer, after all). But that is a very minor gripe. Personally, I would rank season 3 right behind season 2. I do think the pacing of this one was a tad bit inconsistent, but otherwise still very deep, funny, and well-made. I knew it faced some tough competition at the Primetime Emmys this year, but I was still surprised it won nothing. I was SO sure at least either Jason, Walton, or Carrie would win something.
