Severance - Ep.2X4 "Woe's Hollow" *improved audio* UNCUT & UNCENSORED

Re-Uploaded again with better audio just in case!

Well... can't say we didn't at least partially see this coming, right?

Still a good, fun and mysterious episode overall though!

I think the feeling that this reveal falls flat is a symptom of the Internet group play of the live release. I've seen a number of reactors who didn't guess it at all, so much so that when it happened they didn't quite understand what they were watching...usually if you don't see it episode 1, you don't think about it until the reveal. On my first watch I was suspicious when she first lied, and I do think they could have made it a little more subtle, but still a great scene.

Twists are tricky on shows airing weekly like this. Too many hints and once one person figures it out, it spreads all over the internet (because it makes sense). Too few hints and it feels like it comes completely out of the blue - hardly satisfying. I think in general what we want is: 1. Don’t drag it out. A couple of episodes maybe. 2. Make it effective - the characters should be rocked by it or it should be emotional or otherwise impactful even if you know it’s coming. I feel like they maybe dragged it out too long which is why it feels like a bit of a letdown. The fallout after the reveal should be really interesting, though!

I saw someone point out that Helly's 'twin's' neck is bent... I'm not smart enough to dissect that but it might be related to when she tried to kill herself.

On my third watch (I know, I know), it struck me that Helena giving Irving that snow seal was intended to seem like Helly was being innocently kind and silly. But if you watch Britt Lower's facial expression, she's clearly, as Helena, mocking him like he's an idiot for suggesting they eat the seal. Like he's beneath her. Again, it shows her cruelty that we see later around the fire. I love that Irving notices it, takes a beat, then asks her again about the OTC. That man stays focused -- like a dog with a bone as they say.

I wonder if they used one of the contingencies to put them into some kind of state where they could get them to that location. Because you're right, how do you get their outties to go stand in those locations and then switch them? I cannot imagine it. Yet, I don't think it's a simulation (and like you said, the makers have indicated it is real). So, is Mark THAT important not only to Cold Harbor but also important enough to father a child with an Eagan?? I also think she might get pregnant, and I can see it being purposeful or just a consequence of the events. It would also be a way to keep Mark loyal to her even after Helena's betrayal (though, of course, she doesn't know she will be caught). Remember, too, that he and Gemma tried to have children but could not. **If you watch the video I posted in the community thread, Trammell Tillman suggests this was all Milchick's idea, so I just don't know. Additionally, if Cold Harbor is so important, why are they taking ORTBOs anyway? 🤔 This show makes my head spin, and I love it. Irving is not only my favorite character, but he's always been the most intriguing and compelling to me because there are so many hints at his deeper role in the story. I agree with you that I think he'll play a key role on the outside. He had to be in the military (counterintelligence), police force, FBI/CIA, something . . . the way he keeps coming back to that point and hammering it home (gardener). He's 100% trained in this type of thing, which also explains his ability to notice the subtle inconsistencies in her character in the first place. Even Mark doesn't consciously notice them. Irving is fucking brilliant. :) You mentioned the "twins" appearing from nowhere. The same happened with the TV cart. If you watch them all unite on the top of the mountain, you can see the part of the mountain where the cart shows up, but it is EMPTY. Then, they are talking with their backs to that direction and suddenly when they turn around, it's there. How would they not hear or see someone moving that cart onto the rock ledge? It's not plausible. One of those contingencies must have the ability to freeze them. I think there's one called "Freeze Frame" so they could freeze them, put things in place, and unfreeze them? I don't know. Just spitballing.

I agree with you on a lot of this — especially Helena’s purpose was to get pregnant and I completely agree that creature was absolutely a recreation of the Montauk creature. They closed in on it way too long, it had a seal-like body and definitely looked like it could have a beak.

Long comment incoming: I think Irving will play a major role on the outside. Not only did he see “Eagan” on the screen in his dream, it also sort of formed Helena’s face then the last image was a big eye, like open your eyes. Outie Irv might know that’s Helena Eagan, especially if he’s working with Reghabi. And we know from S1 he deprived himself of sleep and had things bleed over when he “dozed”. I almost think this entire excursion tied in with the entire story about Dieter “spilling his lineage” in Woe’s Hollow, and Mark & Helena having sex…all might lead to a darker twist of the ORTBO’s purpose being THAT. Helena getting pregnant with an heir, hence the baby Eagans in the opening credits. I really really don’t want that but it’s kind of pointing to it. ORTBO is also an anagram for ROBOT which could be what the “twins” of them were. Like in S2E1, Gwen (the new person) mentioned that in their old office, the Eagan figures were animatronic. They appeared as if from nowhere though, so it seems more likely they were holograms or something. I’m tempted to say they were in a simulation because how tf were their outies convinced to do this, but the makers of this show have told us everything we see is real, so 🤷🏻‍♀️ idk man.

Irving is a Dream Warrior.

Dear Professor Dum Dum . . . Helena made the same stupid ape face when she talked about Marks' wife that she did when first talking about the night gardener. I thew my lot in with you tho because I did see alot explanations for her behavior. You may now address me as Dr. Air Cadet. That evil tart knows exactly where Marks' wife is. But does she know about her fathers' involvement with the Montauk project? |O_O| Really tho, she wasn't trying to be Helly at all this episode. I think she was trying to pull Irvings' suspicions to the surface and get rid of him. After all, Llumon is listening and Irving is getting too close to places he shouldn't. Tinfoil Aviator Hat Time - I also think she left when everyone was asleep to make sure she was pregnant. Llumon has been at this a looong, looong time, I'm betting. I think they got lots of ideas from the hit man, like the Lebensborn homes' deeper secrets. One of them stupidly being how to change a childs' eyes to blue. The rotten seal could have been the Montauk Monster found in 2008. *Gemma wasn't one of the twins. It was Helly. Sry, for the long comment, lolz.

I think outie Irving will keep investigating, he was very suspicious of Milchick when he showed up at his door after the OTC, then gets rehired and then fired a 2nd time in a short time period. Also when are we gonna get the Irving watermelon head sculpture if he never comes back, unless they do his going away party without him.
