Peek: Power Levels
Added 2023-06-25 23:02:01 +0000 UTCI can't think of a good way to explain it in-universe, so I'll go ahead and take the time to answer CrazyDud's question about the rough rankings of the power of the various characters in the story.
Violet's scions rest at the bottom of the power levels, at least for now. While Onyx sees Rocky as an idea to emulate, she's nowhere near his strength. The others are either still finding their place, or have found places where raw power isn't much of a concern.
For raw power: Queen, Honey, and Coda are probably at the bottom. If you can catch any of them before they can prepare, they could be in trouble. This gets a bit murky because they are unlikely to be caught unawares, and even a little time to plan can make their threat skyrocket.
At the bottom for delvers... are probably Freddie, Rhonda, and Rezlar. As far as raw power goes, they have the least, the fewest levels between them. While they have some powerful classes and interesting tricks up their sleeves, they still have a long way to go.
Next would be Thing. If the kids were able to spring a fight on him, they'd probably win. Thing has more power immediately available at his fingertips than Queen, Honey, and Coda, which is why he ranks above them, and a little planning would also let him deal with the attacks of the young group of delvers.
Jello and Nova are similarly powerful at the moment, with each difficult to land a proper hit on, and each potentially dangerous to touch. Jello is probably not going to be seeing much gains as far as combat goes for a while, as she prefers doing things other than fighting. Nova, on the other hand, is still feeling out her power and intends to at least try to work towards living up to her name.
Tiny, though large and imposing, prefers philosophy to fisticuffs. While he's no slouch in a fight, it's not where his passion lays, so his raw power is lower than might be expected.
Slash and Leo are next and are at similar power, and each will see that power increase dramatically with others around them. While both are dangerous to fight in their own right, they each have powerful buffs to give their allies. Slash's music will ride the tide of battle and subtly guide it, while Leo's barked orders will take the reigns of a battle and lead it where he wishes it to go.
Most of the other regular delvers are next, as well as Aranya and Yvonne. Those two, as well as Ragnar, Aelara, and Berdol, are all roughly similarly powerful in their own ways.
Tarl and the no-longer-terrible trio are at roughly the same power level as each other, with the trio being near the top of the active members of the Adventurer's Guild.
Next up are Staiven, Torlon, and Karn. They each have great experience delving, and those who retire from professions that few live through are people to be respected.
The Quartermaster is the least of Hullbreak's scions, though he's hardly a pushover. Second place is definitely not bad when the First Mate is the one in the lead.
Miller is the most power person so far who isn't associated with a dungeon.
The First Mate is very powerful, but also limited to the water. An ordinary great white shark is not something to trifle with, much less a powerful scion version.
Poe is next, buoyed partially by his tactical mind, and the fact that his own army is never far away. While his combat potential is similar to the First Mate's, he's not constrained to only fighting in a specific terrain... though he would fare poorly in the water.
Rocky is the penultimate of Thedeim's scions, and greatly motivated to be a strong fighter. He enjoys the contest, the war of effort and wills, the challenge and risk, and the joys of victory and defeat. Yes, even defeat. If he can be beaten, it means he still has a goal to strive for.
Fluffles is Thedeim's strongest scion, for the simple fact that the Conduit can make use of Thedeim's terrifying amount of mana. On top of that, he works on his control and efficiency, not wanting to spend a single drop more mana than is absolutely required of him.
Which leaves Teemo. Thedeim's Voice is a bit of a wild card that doesn't quite fit into the idea of power levels. While he'd have difficulty defeating almost anyone on the list, they'd also have difficulty defeating him. Good luck to those who wish to catch a Scout, and take pity on those who are foolish enough to think they have one cornered.
Similarly, Grim is difficult to define in terms of power. At first glance, his ties to death and wielding it make him terrifyingly strong, but he also has few non-lethal options. When relying on just his scythe and earth affinity, He'd probably rank about at the same strength as the kids. If he's flexing all his power, he could probably eliminate most anyone. But at the same time, he could not have stopped the hurricane like Fluffles did.

2023-07-06 21:58:10 +0000 UTCI don’t know if this is the right place to post this but I have a peek idea that is what was going through the mind of the quartermaster when he was attacking fourdock

2023-06-28 03:48:11 +0000 UTCIncredible to think how quick all these scions have popped up and grown. Keep at it my little dungeon friends!

2023-06-27 01:24:11 +0000 UTCHe does actually. Remember spawners require mana, all the traps require mana to reset, expansion sucks down tons of mana. While he does save it up, he'll then spend a bunch all at once. Think of it like a reservoir, it may seem like water should just be stagnant, yet it doesn't. That's because the water is being constantly consumed, with new water coming in to replace it. We saw with Hullbreak that as mana comes flowing back in the dungeon can reactive spawners to bring life back to the area.

2023-06-27 01:09:23 +0000 UTCI'm a little curious about something, if Thedeim is sitting on this massive pool of mana, isn't it stagnating? Shouldn't he be trying to spend it about as quick as he gets it?

2023-06-27 00:19:08 +0000 UTCNot to mention that Grim already stops casualties inside the dungeon for the delvers, that means he could also work support dungeon side to keep Thedium's forces up in a fight.

2023-06-26 11:25:12 +0000 UTCThis is a great Peek! My Son read it to me on the way home from Church, and we noticed Grim missing from the list too. I looked forward to the comments when I got to my Tablet. Your quick edit and response to your Patreon is appreciated. Thanks!!!

2023-06-26 02:53:42 +0000 UTCGrim is more like a Nuke. Just best left unused until things have gone so far off the rails that now it's time to set a massive example. With his understanding of fate, death/life, earth magic, and his scythe skills, he could be the most dangerous scion Thediem has. However, he is super passive and loves quiet and gardening. I just remember how easily he smoked a scythe maw and saved that delving team, like on his smoke break. No, he's the best guardian, undercover, Thediem has. Teamed up with Teemo and/or Fluffles? Huh,... your just done.

2023-06-26 02:27:16 +0000 UTCTeemo is the ultimate support guy. He doesn't do damage himself but making it so a enemy is always to far to hit you while you can strike with impunity. That's a force multiplier.

2023-06-26 02:07:48 +0000 UTCThanks for the peek~! I'd say Teemo is the scariest of them all after Grim, because he has almost reached the realm of "Opened a super short shortcut into a pool of lava just for you~!" and "I have been falling for 50 minutes!"

2023-06-26 00:09:38 +0000 UTCI can imagine Teemo using the classic "I'm running circles around ya!" on an opponent who doesn't know any better.
